OP here. It's Sunday night and I'm still healthy. This started Thursday night, so I hope he is on the upswing soon.
Earlier today, he said that he was starting to feel better (compared to yesterday, which was was truly awful). He took his temp and it was 102. So he was feeling better with "only" an 102 degree fever! I can't imagine what it was yesterday. I seriously hope I don't get this. Oh, and I have 2 kids--DS is 4. DD is only 2 ind is still getting over a stomach flu that had her vomiting early last week. She still isn't quite right yet, so I really hope she can skirt past this one! |
"These people"..... like you? |
NP here, liking your style! Maybe this man-baby phenomenon is why another PP only gets "milder" versions of her DH's infections? |
| My DH and two of our three children have had the flu ( and we did get shots!) in the past 10 days. I have not gotten sick. |

OP here. It's kind if fun to keep checking in here. It's now Monday night and I'm still healthy. So are both kids! I have been ridiculous about cleaning, disinfecting, and washing hands. I hope we can keep it up and stay healthy. But sometimes there is only so much you can do when you share a small space.
FYI, it is definitely the flu. Today is the 4th day of 102+ fever and he has had every classic sign and symptom of the flu. There is no question in my mind that it is the flu and not a cold. |
| Go to the hospital. I've known 2 people recently (that didn't know each other) to have pneumonia unknowingly. I saw one while he had it and didnt even know he was sick! He died almost 2 weeks later. The other guy is in the hospital with it, but getting released this week. His wife is the only reason he bothered to go, as he thought it was a bad cold/flu. The other guy wasn't married. |

OP here. It's Tuesday night and I'm still healthy. I'm thinking i am close to being out of the woods. DH has no fever now, but he does have a cough. Maybe I will send him to the doc to be sure he doesn't have pneumonia.

Count yourself lucky OP. I got the flu on Friday and am finally scraping myself off the floor today. DS tested positive today and DH was sliding downhill tonight. It will be a very long week. We all got flu shots. DS is on Tamiflu but primary care won't give DH Tamiflu because he isn't high risk.
Could I tell them he is high risk because he is so needy that I just might have to kill him before he recovers from the flu? |
| OP, I heard a report on WTOP that a person is contagious for 14 days AFTER symptoms appear. So while the flu shot may have been more effective for you than your DH, you still should take precaution. Did DH get a nasal swab to confirm your suspicions? The cough typically lasts for a while after the fever breaks. |
