Westmoreland Square TH neighborhood, near Haycock

What can you tell me about these homes? Neighborhood? We are looking there b/c our budget is $600K or less. It seems these go to McLean HS even though it's a Falls Church mailing address. We wouldn't use the elem. school (Haycock) or MS (Longfellow) bc our kids go to parochial school, but still like that these schools are considered "good" for resale purpose, good neighbors, etc. I would still drive to work (Tysons) but my DH would commute via WFC. Probably he'd drive there in the a.m. and park there.

Anyone familiar with this neighborhood?

Here's what I can tell you:

- it's in 22043 aka West Falls Church/sometimes referred to as the "McLean part of Falls Church" because it's in the McLean Tax District that funds the McLean Community Center and is zoned for McLean HS
- from a RE investment perspective, it's pretty solid, because the THs are some of the less expensive properties zoned for McLean HS, so they are in demand
- lots of people live there so their kids can attend/walk to the AAP programs at Haycock and Longfellow
- mostly white/Asian (higher Asian population than most of McLean/Falls Church, probably because of Haycock/Longfellow)
- closest shopping is the Falls Plaza shopping area on Route 7 in Falls Church; Falls Church Farmers Market on weekends is very good, too. Also not too far from Balducci's in McLean and Trader Joes/Whole Foods in Idylwood Plaza.
- good central location to get to Tysons and other places; would take @5 minutes to drive to WFC Metro station
- McLean HS is mostly kids from McLean and West Falls Church (w/a few from Vienna) and is a good school with lots of community support
- not sure how much "community feel" there is within the specific Westmoreland Square TH complex (guess is that you'd probably find that a fair number of the residents are farily private).

I live in Falls Church 22043 in the area you're talking about, but in a single family home. our cluster is haycock-longfellow mclean too.

I love the area and it's so close to Falls Church City, N Arlington 22207, and Mclean. Very close to all commuter roads (495, 66, rt 7, 50, 123, gw parkway, etc.) A Tysons commute would be pretty easy.

DH parks at WFC every day and commutes downtown. Takes about 45 min door to door. Parking can be scarce at WFC if you don't get there during rush hour (say you go at 10am after a doctor's appt) so on those days DH just drives into work via GW Parkway or 66 and it's very easy.

We love they area, and Haycock is great but overcrowded (like many schools in the area). There are lots of kids in the neighborhood that go to parochial schools nearby though.

People are always surprised that our address is Falls church, they think it's either N arlington or Mclean and we are less than a mile from each. I saw go for it!

Quick Question: Considering townhome for sale in Westmoreland Square, and interested in getting a small-medium size dog. Does anyone know if the association treats the green walking areas for mosquitos or ticks? Or, if you live there already and have a dog, how do you handle protecting them?
