| Considering our options for accommodations and I like the option of having a kitchen and a bit more room to spread out when the kids go to sleep, while still being close to Epcot for restaurants. We aren't planning to rent a car, so I'm curious about groceries. It would be nice to have some snacks and breakfast items. Anyone stayed here? Are there grocery stores nearby or delivery options? Any drawbacks to this property? Thanks! |

We have stayed here many times, as we are Disney Vacation Club owners at this is our home resort. They are very nice, the location is super convenient and there are fun things to do nearby for dinner and with the kids. No real drawbacks, but if you value quiet ask for a villa suite facing the pool or garden, not the front by the boardwalk. Other than that, you'll have a great time, trust me.
By the way, it was after staying at Boardwalk Villas that we joined the Vacation Club. We liked it so much we wanted to be able to stay there again! We've stayed in many of the other resorts at WDW but Boardwalk is our favorite. |
| PP again - meant to add there's a small store right downstairs on the boardwalk for sundries, groceries and wine. SUper convenient for breakfast items, though expensive. There's a grocery store called Goodings just off the Disney property. We usually stop there on our way in to pick up a few things for our breakfasts and snacks. |
If you don't have a car I'm not sure how you'd handle groceries other than the small general store on the boardwalk I mentioned. They definitely have basics there, such as bread, cereal, eggs, frozen waffles, juice and coffee. Disney does offer a delievery option for WDW Vacation CLub members. This might be available to all Baordwalk guests -- I'd definitely ask. You really don't need a car for anything else. Buses and water ferries run regularly to the parks, downtown disney, and there are many options within walking distance too. |
| Thanks PP! |
| I know a lot of people use Garden Grocer to have groceries delivered to their rooms at Disney. http://www.gardengrocer.com/ |

We stayed at the villas at the Beach Club last fall. They also have a kitchen, living room, separate bedroom (we were in a 2 bedroom) and I think they are the same price as the Boardwalk. Anyway, I just want to chime in that it is SO NICE being so close to Epcot. We were on the dining plan and ate many of our dinners at the countries. It was also during the food and wine festival, so we could just pop over for a snack and beer/wine.
For groceries, we rented a car for about $40 for 2 days. The grocery store (Whole Foods and Publix) are about 10 miles away. The parking at the Villas was free, so we didn't have any issues with that. There are also convenience stores in the hotel that has many items that you might need -- more than most hotel stores. It was nice to be able to have snacks for the kids and a couple cases of water, because water at the parks is expensive. |

how many days are you going for?
If more than a few, get groceries delivered. in all of our recent trips we stayed in a villa - Boardwalk, Beachclub and Animal Kingdom. My favorite is Beachclub of the 3. loved having a space to relax when the kids took naps or after they went to bed. They all have washer dryers which was a nice bonus when traveling with your children. |
| In addition to delivery options, you could take car service (not taxi) from the airport - I think they pretty much all throw in a half-hour grocery stop for free if you want it. We paid $110 RT last year... not sure about prices for larger vehicles. |
We are planning 6 nights. I love the idea of grocery delivery and laundry. We planned to stay at one of the close-in resorts anyway, so it looks like it's worth it to splurge and do the villa to have a bit more room and not be stuck in a small, dark hotel room at bedtime. There are also family suites that are more reasonable priced at the new Art of Animation resort, but it's not as conveniently located. |
We are a larger family and liked the idea of family suites, but looking at them, I'm a bit wary. Most of the beds are converted out of other furniture (sofa bed, table folds down into a bed, etc) I don't really like that. |
Did this. Quality was great and prices were high but easier/cheaper than always eating breakfast out. |
For 6 days - laundry makes a big difference - I forget if they replace your laundry detergant as a part of housekeeping - someone might be able to tell you. they have a small stackable washer dryer - but with children, we ran a load a day between ice cream melting and other stuff. We used the Disney transportation (free to/from the airport when you stay on Disney Properties) - I know not everyone is a fan - but for us it worked. Disney takes point on checking you in - getting your boarding passes etc when you leave. On the boardwalk there is a lot of entertainment - jugglers. Enjoy! |
