When do Beauvoir 2nd Grade families receive dc's ERB scores?
Thanks in advance!

The school has them already but won't share with families till after the break. Last year some families were notified before the nreak if there were concerns about the scores.

ERB time? Oh god. Remember those times from Beauvoir well. That's when the crazy starts to seep out of so many Beauvoir parents. It takes them a week to understand the scores. Another week to recover from what are more often than not less than stellar scores. And the rest of the time is spent ranting and raving to the school head and otherwise complaining about Beauvoir not teaching to the test. So glad those days are behind us.

The above comment is so funny but true... Lol! You can tell which children performed well and which didn't based upon parent behavior.

We also lived through that. It may sound mean to say this, but all those parents whose children were (by their judgment) stellar, suddenly did not look as stellar as their parents had assumed. It led to a very tense environment in some classes.

What do you mean by tense environment?

I don't know. My son was at Beauvoir (left for STA 2 years ago) and, in my experience, parents didn't discuss their kid's grades all. Their was never any tension.

OP here. We haven't received them yet, but very soon.

I think 6:04 is a troll. I have NEVER EVER noticed any parent act as if their dc were stellar. This is dc's fourth year and it is a very nurturing community... I've never experienced competitive parents or anything even remotely close.

The tension I picked up on was at the post-ERB meeting where parents are invited to attend to discuss the scores. There were quite a few parents there, I was one of them, in part b/c I had no idea what the scores actually meant. It was pretty clear at the meeting that there were a handful, actually two or three handfuls, of parents who were alarmed by what they apparently perceived as very low scores. It was tense.

I am a Beauvoir parent and I think you are overstating the parent community. I do think that, by and large, the parents are a very nice group but JUST LIKE in other privates, there is a range of types. I think you would have to be completely oblivious to basics to think that something about Beauvoir keeps the over competitive parents out. Perhaps they hide it better, or perhaps you are not very observant. Have you never been at Math Morning and seen/heard parents when their child finishes faster than another?

I remember that this was my reaction when I attended years ago. The normal happy vibe was missing, however; parents were worrying about 4th grade admission results. Though most of us really didn't need to. I agree that there were several parents alarmed after learning their child's low scores.

Yes, definitely tension from several parents. The facilitator made it clear that the ERB could certainly give a parent an indication of weaknesses that could reappear in the future when your DC starts the SAT journey. She was very vocal about the importance of developing strong reading comprehension skills. Especially in understanding the concept of an inference. And she shared that she had one-on-one reading sessions with her son and is certain that helped him significantly when later taking the SATs.

Are you sure you are a Beauvoir parent...? Doesn't sound like it!

What is the score range on the ERBs and what is considered a great score, good score, etc?

Curious about this as well? What are typical great, good, and not so hot scores? Has anyone received scores yet?
