Republican former county commissioner John Jessup has been sentenced to 6-15 years in prison for raping his own daughter.

Jessup, of Hancock County, took his daughter to Las Vegas for her 21st birthday, got her drunk, and raped her in a hotel room.

“However, even amid his criminal proceedings, voters elected Jessup to a county council position last November. Jessup was elected as one of three Republican candidates, receiving more than 15,000 votes.”
