Update: “France's Marine Le Pen has been barred from running for office for five years after being found guilty of misappropriating European funds to finance her far-right National Rally (RN) party. The momentous decision means that, unless she can get her sentence overturned before the 2027 presidential election, Le Pen will likely not be able to stand. It would have been her fourth attempt, and the one offering the greatest chance of victory. Judges imposed immediate ineligibility with her conviction, meaning the ban on holding public office will now come into effect even if Le Pen appeals. “A man from the Philadelphia suburbs – who filed the lawsuit anonymously because he says he fears retribution – claims he is owed $20,000 for gathering signatures in Pennsylvania. The lawsuit claims there could be another 100 victims of Musk’s alleged breach-of-contract. Brian Kelsey, a Republican former Tennessee state lawmaker who pled guilty to federal campaign finance crimes in 2022, has been pardoned by President Trump. Kelsey is now lobbying current Republicans for a law that would let him use campaign funds to pay for his legal expenses.
