Specific to the RICO charge was Kid Cudi's testimony (arson and exortion), Eddie Garcia, the hotel security guard that diddy paid to have the tape of him beating Cassie (bribery and obstruction of justice), and then both Cassie and Jane (sex trafficking and forced prostitution).

I hope this helps explain the charges. The prosecution investigated Diddy for over a year before bringing these charges; they believe they have the evidence to prove each of them. So far, they have been doing a really good job. But Diddy has great lawyers, so we will see what happens once his team gets a chance to call witnesses.

Thanks for this summary. It seems like the fact that the women stayed with him kind of downplays the coercion angle, no? At the end of the day sex is different from violence and women getting coerced into sex they do not want is often considered just part of a relationship. You see it articulated here on DCUM. not saying I agree with this, but just wondering how the legal element of coercion can be proven when women have sex they do not want all the time.

So we’ve gone from talking about a serious trial to deciding that every famous Black rapper is secretly gay and violent because… they "look zesty"? Based on what, exactly? Your vibes? I do see your point. But coercion isn’t just someone being moody or manipulative. In this case, we’re talking about threats, violence, drugging, control over someone’s money and freedom, and isolating them from help. That’s not a rough patch in a relationship; that’s a power dynamic being weaponized to force sex.

The idea that a woman "staying" means she wasn’t coerced is one of the oldest myths in abuse cases. Victims stay for all kinds of reasons; fear, trauma bonding, financial dependence, threats, hope things will change, etc. That’s why these charges are based not just on someone’s choice to stay, but on patterns of behavior that meet specific legal thresholds for force, fraud, and coercion.

So yeah, the law can and does recognize coercion, even when it happens within a relationship. And honestly, it’s pretty alarming how often it gets downplayed. Especially when victims finally come forward and people still say, “Well, why didn’t she just leave?”

Based on the white outfit and the defense team bringing up the famous rapper in Vegas party, I’d say this was a ploy to sway the jury. Glad he never made it inside to the actual courtroom and only sat in an overflow room for 10 minutes.
