How many people called in "sick" today at your office?

I work for a very small company. Less than 10 are scheduled to work today and 2 called in "sick".

One woman in particular was out for 2-3 weeks just 2 months ago. (minor non life threatening surgery). She's totally recovered now. Can't believe she's "sick" again.

Really? There have been several nasty viruses and colds that have been making the circuit. With all of the holiday parties over the last week and a half and an incubation period of 4-6 days, I can easily see a lot of people getting sick over the Christmas weekend.

My kids have been sick since last Tuesday. We got to spend Christmas Eve morning in the pediatrician's office as the nasty cold they had ended up in their ears and both have ear infections on top of everything else and are on antibiotics. My wife and I have had flu symptoms since Saturday. I struggled in today because I am flat out of leave, but if I had any leave left for this year, I'd be home trying to recover.

And the other side is my brother who asked for the day off. Was not given it. And called in sick today because he did not want to drive back Christmas day.
I would guess you have 50/50

I called in sick. I am actually sick. The whole family is scheduled to leave tomorrow for a vacation and I feel horrible, and I still have to pack (yes, that's always left entirely to me). I can barely move, and I just got out of bed, even though I'm usually up at 6.

Our child has been sick, and DH now has it. He was taking today off anyway, but otherwise would have had to call in sick, which would have looked suspicious.

Everyone in my family came down with, cuurently has, or will get whatever it is everybody else has. There is definitely something going around.

Basically no one is in today in my office--but it's all scheduled leave, not people calling in sick.

I thought I might have to (daughter had a fever last night) but she was fine this morning so I came in after all.

Two of my kids are running fevers. Thankfully, my mother is in town to watch them, or I'd be calling in sick.

We traveled back 5 hours yesterday so I could make it to work today.

And I am sick: sore throat, slight fever. Spending Christmas at a strange house with an infant will do that to you

Thankfully there's hardly anybody here that I would make sick by being contagious.

My friend has the flu and is sick. She's a teacher, so thankfully she didn't need to call in sick.

If a person calls in sick and isn't, karma will eventually catch up. If a person doubts someone is sick when he/she truly is, karma will again catch up.

My office has about 40 people. There are FIVE of us here today. Sucks.

What is with you nasty people who always assume the worst about others' intentions and actions?

As others have said-there is a lot going around. Everyone in my house was sick for at least 2 weeks with a nasty virus-really nasty virus. My husband usually makes it in if he just has a cold, but this wiped him out. He wanted to try to work some from home, but couldn't. We all had the flu shot, but parts of this felt like the flu.

I would assume they really are sick. I also would suggest you do whatever you can do boost your immunity and protect yourself from getting sick. Consider yourself lucky if you stay healthy all winter.

Also, would you rather people come in sick and infect everyone?
