Looking for a place with a fixed price menu (around $35/pp) for a Monday night work event in Bethesda, about 80 people. Any suggestions?

The upsale part and added fees in the end is BS. Good to know that.

"Fine Food And Wine" has a private room, good/versatile food, nice vibe. It is on Wisconsin Avenue, in Bethesda, across from The Woman's Market. If not in the private room, perhaps the regular restaurant would be good, as well- The restaurant is big!

McCormick & Schmidts?

Guapo's in Tenley can do that budget and has a big room on the second floor. You might try Rio Grande too. I think Trattorio Sorrento could do that budget and that size. And the Irish Inn can do the budget, not sure if they have the space for 80 though. Oh, and BlackFinn I think.

Indique Heights in Friendhsip Heights has a private room and a big patio (for warmer weather) and they are quite reasonable. Also try Mei Wah.

This place is really good but may be pricier than OP is talking. And I think it's called "Food & Wine Co."

Positano, mentioned above, is amazing - I've been to lots of big group things there.

I do lots of events at Maggiano's. I haven't encountered add ones, ever. I usually do the $37.95 meal ($17.95 for kids) plus open bar (pay as you do, no top shelf and no martinis). There is an automatic gratuity, can't recall the percentage. On occasion, I've needed a special meal to accommodate allergies and even with no advance notice it was fine. Everything was disclosed up front and I've always been assigned to a consultant who managed my events.
