Who knows. Between Urick and Severns it’ll be a total failure.

So they have 5 teams each grade now? Metro, Black, Orange, Urick and Severns? Anyone know the order in terms of best to worst of the teams?

So take out the Orange and replace it with Metro. This is only for the 2028s that I know of.

They are really suffering and this was predicted on these threads. When Anzelone's kids aged out, he gave control to Severns and the club sank. Now they've got some strange mix of Black, Orange and Metro and some ages have multiple teams and others are single. A club can't have a part-time director. NL's Mitchell quickly gave up the DeMatha job. Maddox gave up coaching years ago and MadLax is a long term success. Club Blue is back and has a full-time director.

Interesting take. The website shows they have a club & recruiting director in Urick who isn't listed as a coach on any team for DC. It's widely known he's not coaching at Prep any longer so this is likely his full-time gig. They have an executive director in Breslin who is also the executive director of parent company BLC. It appears Severns is no longer the director and is now the assistant director of recruting while coaching two teams. Based on your argument of a club not having a part-time director these moves look to only strengthen the program not weaken it.

Yeah, I didn’t realize urick was the full time guy. Now it remains to be seen if he is more than a lax dude, phys ed teacher and can handle running a business.

I think That BLC is actually running the business but that Coach Urick was brought in to spearhead recruiting

Spoke to some parent recently with boys on 2024 and 2025 teams and they said there was zero recruiting support and zero communications around recruiting for individual family's. So I would say this is a massive "win" for the club?

It was actually shocking for me to hear their opinions on the club and their boys were al playing pretty high level D1. Their overall opinion was the club didn't help that happen, in one case it was more the high school coach (STJ) and in another case there was a dad on the team tat helped guide them and make introductions.

I would have thought a high end club like DCE would have a real process for recruiting communicated when the boys are in middle school. This is all new for us and no idea what to expect in high school if our son wants to try to play in college.

Albeit Urick was brought on after being let go, but parents said he's done next to nothing. Running a business is no joke and he'll need to ramp it up because the other 3 clubs are pulling away.

He coached my son’s team a couple years ago. It seemed he had a lot of personal issues going on and he wasn’t able to separate that from his work responsibilities. I suspect that’s what happened with Prep too

Can confirm nearly zero recruiting help. Not STJ, but other schools and parents were much more helpful. Frankly, it was incredibly disappointing, and while the destinations of the 25, 26, 27 DCE teams may look impressive, DCE did not get them there. Coaches no show practices, and it felt like we were begging to get the bare minimum.

I wonder if Urick is the one they told us would run recruiting that we literally never got to speak to again? I don't remember his name.

Anyone have any insight into the DCE 2030 Black team? Been keeping an eye out for them because I’m intrigued for my son to try out this summer (his current team is a whole other story) but they don’t appear to be playing that well yet based on some Fall tourney results and the small sample size so far in HoCo AAA group games. I haven’t seen them play yet, just what’s on paper, so I know that has its limits.

Any idea where most of the kids came from? Are they Elite level players who moved on from their teams for a new opportunity or are they mostly AAA/AA type players who hadn’t yet broken into an Elite level squad?

I would say they fall into the second category. It’s not a team of elite players . Look up the 2030 teams in the elite bracket at HoCo league if you are looking for a team for an elite player . That’s a good place to start.

Hard to recruit well fits the conversation here over the last few posts/pages.

Team would be best playing at AA. Their best players moved on to Elite teams last year.
This isn't going to change unless another local team implodes and players move en masse.
