She sells the idea this me course is a safe place for the disenfranchised to come and be enlightened. Do you think she’s in the early stages of creating a new kind of para-Christian cult? One where she’s the arbiter of this higher truth?

Can the two boobs who keep replying to each other’s insults like middle schoolers please exchange Mincraft Gametags and take the argument there where it belongs?!?! Thanks a bunch!

So, I don’t think Jen thinks into the future enough to be focused on creating a cult. I honestly think she’s just always looking for an opportunity to exploit people. I mean HELP people! And since she sees herself as a spiritual leader and also knows lots of people have crisis of faith experiences, she figures why not take advantage? She’s a self described expert in a lot of things, and she always manages to monetize those things. This latest one feels no different to me.

You said “boobs.”

Brandon trying to sell and market upscale Texas real estate = A good and noble calling.

Jen trying to monetize faith and weaponizing promo codes for all sorts of useless crap when you're the writer of 7: A Fight Against Excess Blah Blah Blah = Gross, hypocritical, and exploitive.

I’m no Jen fan - I find her vapid, fake and immature, but these Brandon takes “poor Brandon - he cheated and abused alcohol and drugs bc he was married to someone more famous than he is but he really loves the lord” are outrageous.

The difference is that Brandon isn’t swindling people. No one is calling him a saint, but it’s hard to have the disdain for him that people do for Jen when she’s the one actively deceiving others.

HE CHEATED ON HIS WIFE FOR AT LEAST FOUR YEARS. Now he's schilling real estate. My God.

Except. We literally have no idea if this is a fact. None!

I know it’s a fact.

Looks that way. Bessey has an undergraduate degree from Oral Robert University, plus an honorary PhD she awarded herself for having touched the hem of Rachel Held Evan’s garment. She cosplayed both a theologian and a feminist on the internet. Her navel must be ginormous because she’s managed to stare at it incessantly for about 10 years now.

Does she use her third rate education to “deconstruct” the Bible to reduce it so that Jesus is your trans boyfriend and the only true sins are global warming and voting republican?
Yes.
She and Jen are a match made in heaven, er, hell.

You are misunderstanding.
There is no love for Brandon. Brandon is a rat bastard wife cheater.

But we think B was a true believer who has gone astray, and we hope he repents and returns to Christ.
Jen, we think was always a total fraud who uses Jesus to advance herself, same as the worst televangelist ripping off grannies.

As much as I hate cheating husbands, I hate religious hypocrites even worse.
And, btw, so did Jesus.

If I told you, I’d have to kill you.
J/k, friends of friends w them both.
I’ve known a while but did not share it here until she essentionally shared it herself on Glennon’s podcast.
That’s all I know. I don’t know who or how long.
As much as jen irritates me, I feel awful for her. No one deserves that.

If Brandon was a serial adulterer that’d seriously mess a girl up, but would it be bad enough for her to go for a guy on the down-low who has never been married, can’t stop rolling his eyes when he talks, and lives states away with a fluctuating income. Surely Jen could’ve done better with someone more local? So confusing her need to build up this fantasy love affair. Maybe it feels safer?

Maybe, because her books are just meandering half-thoughts with absolutely no point.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I stopped listening to Sarah B. when she started asking for money to send people her long-winded overdramatic emails. But even before that I could never get through a blog post of hers without skimming. The writing was all over the place and I couldn't figure out what her point was. She and Jen are birds of a feather in their desire for attention at least.

Thank you for sharing. I totally respect that you don’t want to say too much. Did you end up here from Google like most of us, or did someone send you the link? (Curious if there are more people who kind of know them on here than we realize.)

Something else that struck me as really, really bothersome was the whole Humans of New York "Detra" story, and how Jen took it as a launch pad for a rant against any woman who ever felt hurt and marginalized by men in the church.

Jen has highlighted, rightfully so, the many good men in her family, like her father and grandfather. In fact, when Caleb up and left his own graduation ceremony, my first thought was, "ooh, I don't think her no-nonsense granddad would've tolerated that for one minute." She even posted a photo of her poor dad barely staying awake during one of the graduations of Gavin or Sydney.
