| Hopefully they can get some better talent. VRSC cant compete with the big clubs in the area girls or boys. |

Quick flashy fix - it’s what rich folks do
Usl championship (Loudoun utd’s team) is not going to be 2nd tier of pro soccer in USA. USL announced a new structure and USL-C will be the third tier. VRSC won’t tell you this. Loudoun UTD won’t either but at least now they have a sucker who will absorb their 7 digits losses. As a previous poster noted, VRSC gained an extra field but nothing else. Almost 10 years later not one single male or female player has been produced by the club worthy of mention |

The highest level U13+ boys locally play at NVA, VDA, DCU (and out of town MLS academies), Bethesda, SYC, Alexandria, Baltimore Armour, Arlington, Achilles, etc. Local players not able to make an MLSN/ECNL roster have shown they would rather drive to WV to play on a doormat MLSN team than play at Revolution. The caliber of player/teams at the top local MLSN/ECNL teams is 2-3 levels above Revolution. Have a look at a schedule and catch a match. Sounds harsh, but Revolution is irrelevant to anyone outside of Leesburg and maybe Ashburn. No player or parent will choose Revolution over any top MLSN/ECNL club.
Merging with a USL club and maybe a girls pro club down the road doesn't move the needle at all. |
I’ve read on here a couple of times that they’re selling LSP. I have no idea why or if it’s true, but I think that’s what the poster is referring to. |
It’s a process. Talent comes from the program, so you have to build the program first. Best facility in DMV. Residential academy. GA program with arguably the best girls coaching slate in DMV. MLSN2 program starting next year. UPSL semi-pro men’s team. And now a USL Championship pro men’s team. All built from nothing over just a few years. No one in the DMV has or is building anything even remotely similar, other than DC United Academy. It takes time, but talent—outside talent that is attracted to the resources and inside talent that develops from the resources—will be the result. |
The needle that moves is actually the only one that matters, money. |
Funny part is they haven’t ‘built’ anything. They’ve bought out each and every aspect. Let me guess, it’s development, right? That’s the keyword 🤡 |
The talent at the club today is irrelevant to what the club is building for the future. I completely agree that an MLSN caliber U15 player is not going to VRSC next season. 5-7 years from now, I think it will be a different story. Their girls program is well ahead of the boys, and that hill isn’t as steep to climb. |
What’s wrong with buying pieces? Lots of businesses are built on acquiring assets, people, products, etc. Real Madrid’s women’s program started with an acquisition. |
This is what I see. Last winter I remember there being rumors that VRSC would get GA and I didn’t really believe it because the girls program at that time was not very strong. But then they got all of FCV’s coaches and GA. And did ok for the first year, middle of the table. I see the same thing happening with the boys side where the program now is not very strong. But the coaching looks pretty good and now they have MLSN2 for next year. This club seems to be getting better and better very quickly. |

The haters are definitely not seeing the bigger picture. VRSC is playing chess while every other club is playing checkers. Potential future moves include the UPSL team gets moved into a lower USL tier to participate in the promotion/relegation system USL is adopting. Definitley expect to see a womens professional team brought into the club. Whether it's the Spirit or Power is still unknown. My bet is on Power if the league survives. Full pathways on the boys and girls side will make VRSC premiere club in DMV.
It won't happen overnight but you will see it happen over the next 5 years. Think about the U8 and U9 kids now and where they will want to play, VRSC. |
Exactly. The naysayers like to compare quality of today’s VRSC teams to the quality of other clubs’ teams today, and the point to the shortfall as evidence that VRSC is bad, but that misses the point. Today doesn’t matter. Tomorrow matters. When VRSC is adding all these pieces while most other clubs are at best standing still and in many cases going backward (because of dysfunctional leadership), you have to be blind not to see where things are headed. |
| Beside cz, the ga staff is mediocre. And cz isn’t perfect. |
