| Less than 3 weeks! What would the menu consist of for your dream Thanksgiving? |
|
Does having Tom Colicchio cooking at my house count? That would be my ideal dream. (PS his brussel sprout recipe would be a great addition to your menu)
That said, I get excited for the Nov Food and Wine, Bon Appetit and Real Simple mags in November for recipe ideas. Check them out. |
|
I used to love the November Bon Appetit issues. I bought it every year. Then around 2008/2009 they did a redesign, weird pics of food sitting on the edge of a table, crime-scene lights, etc. Just unattractive.
No more features of certain families/friends and their get-togethers, just an odd, "cold" element. Really sad because their Thanksgiving issue was so great previously. |

deep fried turkey (had it once at a wedding in LA, so good)

| I would have Indian food, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. I hate turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc. |

We do a lot of the classics. Turkey, mashed potatoes, homemade gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, rolls...
Lots of pies for dessert. Apple and pumpkin, especially. |

Turkey, roasted.
Stuffing Gravy Cranberry sauce Broccoli Sweet potatoes Sour cherry pie |
| We deep fry our turkeys every year. We also have a ham and chicken and dumplings and giblet gravy and dressing. Our sides are green beans, macaroni and cheese, and candied yams and rolls. Desserts are lemon pie, chocolate pie, red velvet cake, coconut cake, and 15 layer chocolate cake. This actually IS my dream Thanksgiving menu because my family does it so damn good. |
For me, it's all the traditional stuff, and it's really about the stuffing, gravy, and taters. I put wild rice in my (homemade) stuffing, and insist on real mashed potatoes. I like the lumps.

Must include pecan pie and delicious mashed potatoes. I also love my culture's food: macaroni with meat and beshamel sauce (looks like lasagna) and stuffed grape leaves.
I can live without turkey. |
