That's odd. I didn't know the Japanese made Turkey sushi. Is there mashed potato sushi? How about stuffing rolls? |

| Turkey. Basted with butter. Stuffing for the rest of my family. Cranberry-orange compote. Roasted butternut squash. Salad. Roasted green beans. Creamed mushrooms. Kielbasa. Sauerkraut...orange rice, tomato gravy, two kinds of cheesecake, strawberry jello and ice cream---all done together, it's weird and mousse-y---cream cheese pound cake, ice cream, coffee and at least four different kinds of mixed drinks. Afterwards, the guys go watch football, the little kids play in the basement, and the women wash the dishes. There are so many people you eat in sittings, and the men eat first. Someone pinches the kids feet under the table and pretends they aren't, and the noise is amazing. I miss it so much. |

I truly wish I could but my MIL and her sister do the chicken and dumplings and it's a very long process I cannot even understand. It requires SPECIFIC thin frozen dumplings and many hours of boiling and whatnot. And my MILs OTHER sister does the 15 layer cake and I cannot even comprehend how she gets it all so thin and perfect. We actually toyed a couple years ago with the idea of putting together and printing a family cookbook full of these recipes because we started to realize that once these women are gone, their recipes will be too. |
