Best boxed cake mix

Anyone have any favorites? This is for the 2 year old set? I don't even think many of them have even had icing since their first birthdays, so I was going to go very light on the icing.

Thanks.

Duncan Hines Butter cake with chocolate icing.

Duncan Hines Devil's Food cake mix. Yummy and moist.

I've heard to add an extra egg, or use extra large eggs when it calls for large, or some have sworn by adding a box of pudding to the cake mix.

You could always go a little non-traditional and use rice crispie treats.

Kids seem to like that confetti cake.

Duncan Hines is my favorite as well.

Kids do like Funfetti. Duncan Hines makes an Orange Zest boxed cake mix that is really good though, especially with vanilla icing. I've also heard good things about Trader Joe's Vanilla Bean box mix.

Duncan Hines boxed Yellow cake mix used in the Cake Mix Doctor My Orange Birthday cake recipe. Perfection

Trader Joe makes a fabulous cake mix - no artificial ingredients (or flavor), much better than other brands IMO.

I've also used this to improve on a regular chocolate cake mix:

Surprisingly enough, King Arthur Flour's gluten-free chocolate mix is amazing. It's the best cake mix cake I've ever had, period. You can find it at Whole Foods.

Totally agree with both the Duncan Hines butter and the devils food cake suggestions. I also think I recall something about adding pudding mix but I've never tried it.

For 2 year olds, I would stick with a white/yellow cake and white icing because of the mess factor.

Betty Crocker yellow cake mix. Secrete ingredients: add extra egg, butter and heavy cream like the bakery does, a la Heidelberg.

yeah, I was gonna say add melted butter instead of using oil. Also if you love chocolate, throw some chocolate pudding mix and chocolate chips in.

Duncan Hines - add 1 box of pudding mix, 4 eggs (instead of 3), 1 c of water (instead of 1/2c) and 1/3 c of oil or melted butter. Delish!
