Which single spice you dislike most?

Y'all are all picky. I don't have a problem with any of these spices.

Cumin. I abhor it. I can taste it even in the smallest amounts and it makes me gag. I hate it so so much. People will say, “oh I don’t like it either, I just used a teeny tiny bit, you can’t even taste it” and I can ALWAYS taste it. And the smell is atrocious.

I really dislike cumin.

I love cumin! I hate curry!

Curry is not a spice. It is some kind of White person bastardized cultural appropriation racist shitshow of food that is being sold by McCormick. It is hideous.

You all have been raised eating bland food. There is no spice from around the world that I have not liked.

Curry is a gravy. There are Indian, Thai, Japanese, etc. Curry powder is a bunch of spices (pinch here, pinch there, etc. of 6-8 spices) custom mixed from our spice box (dabba). For some who only make curry once in a while, curry powder is more economical rather than purchasing all the spices individually that will only be used once in a blue moon. Has nothing to do with racism. You can buy pre-made spice mixes in an Indian grocery store. We use them too. It's called convenience, not a bastardized cultural appropriation racist shitshow.

Oh hi Padma! Do you feel the same way about Italian seasoning? Chinese 5-spice? Taco seasoning? Herbe de Provence? All of these are combinations of spices or herbs that are a shortcut to recreate a general flavor profile, generally tailored for "American" palates and often not really representative of the actual mix of spices/herbs used to make any particular dish. Not everything has to be an affront.

Dill is super nasty. I hate when it's hidden inside a salad.

Smells like an armpit. Cumin too, which is a big part of it.

Yes! Armpit for sure.

Curry is just gross. The smell is YUCK.

I always say cumin smells like stinky shoes, but I can totally see armpit as well! I still cook with it, just go light on the cumin when called for. DH hates dill (which I love) and my mother hated nutmeg. I guess we all have our things...

I don’t love dill or cilantro. Too much turmeric ruins dishes. I do not really HATE any spices, though.

Joining all the anise/fennel haters.

I don't mind tarragon, even though it tastes licorice-y to me. I guess just not as much as anise/fennel.

These are two of my favorites!

I feel the same way about all those mixes. Taco seasoning is the worst offender of the bunch.

+2! Taco seasoning is a true insult.
