David Blair for MoCo executive

Blair? Never
Elrich? Long enough with this guy.

He wrote a letter to WMATA opposing a plan to build townhomes and an apartment building at the Takoma Metro.

He has also been completely silent about opposition to the Takoma Junction development.

Seems that he’s more like a hypocrite that lacks leadership qualities.

N.I.M.B.Y. stands for Not In My Backyard. This literally applies to Hans Riemer.

I guess he’s not done with the “old way of thinking” either.

NIMBY literally applies Hans Riemer, how? Was there a project proposed in his backyard that he opposed? Or do you mean "literally" the way kids these days are using the word, i.e., "figuratively"?

That is not relevant.

If you read the link, it clearly spells out how a 16 story building next to a parking lot inhibits growth and development. There are plenty of examples in our community.

Chuck Marohn is a civil engineer, who furthermore has changed his mind on a lot of things since 2014.

And you are? Care to share your expertise?

Dude, you're the person who linked to that old Strong Towns post.

And you have provided no support for your proposition that the information in that post in inaccurate. If you have no expertise in the area, there is zero reason to listen to you.

You posted it. Please explain why it's correct, keeping in mind that cities have had a diversity of land uses next to each other for as long as there have been cities.

The thing about Hans is that he is actually a YIYBY: Yes In Your BackYard.

He is VERY pro development and pro-developer in all respects up until it would affect himself. But he’s all about putting things into YOUR backyard regardless of consequence or cost.

It would be helpful if people cited specific projects he opposed in his backyard but supported in their backyards.

I’d like some evidence that he has taken leadership to promote development in his neighborhood, Takoma Park. Great platform for a guy to buy a house in a historic district and then go around the county forcing developers on everywhere else while his neighborhood and backyard is immune. Even for development like Takoma Junction, which is just a tiny retail building, he won’t even stand up in his own community and say that this is necessary. Conspicuous silence.

The City of Takoma Park has its own planning authority. The people who ultimately make the planning decisions in Takoma Park are the Takoma Park City Council, not the Montgomery County Council.

The lack of leadership on Takoma Junction is telling. Even Elrich waded in but Riemer has refused to exert any leadership in his own community on an issue that he has put at the heart of his campaign.

Furthermore, he also helped to derail development of the Takoma Metro station, which isn’t even in his jurisdiction.

So there you go.

If he deeply believed in this, then he would try to convince his neighbors of its importance. Why has he remained silent on the biggest issue in his community which is directly relevant to his entire schtick?

I'm not a Riemer supporter, but that's an oversimplification.

If he won’t show leadership in his own neighborhood with his own community and his own neighbors then he is tacitly supporting their NIMBYism.
