Diversity, equity, inclusion but not for Jews?

1. Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act (H.R. 5602/S. 3190) to enhance federal efforts to prevent domestic terrorism by requiring federal law enforcement agencies to regularly assess threats and to provide training and resources to assist state, local, and tribal law enforcement efforts;

2. National Opposition to Hate, Assault, and Threats to Equality (“NO HATE”) Act (H.R. 3545/S. 2043) to incentivize hate crime reporting, grants for state-run hate crime hotlines and additional sentencing options for individuals convicted under the federal Matthew Shephard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act;

3. Never Again Education Act (H.R. 943/S.2085) to establish a fund to provide teachers the resources necessary to teach the important lessons of the Holocaust;

4. Stop Hateful and Abusive Telecommunications Expression (“Stop HATE”) Act (H.R. 1934/S.917) to direct the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information to prepare and submit periodic reports to Congress on the role of telecommunications in hate crimes;

5. Special Envoy to Combat and Monitor Anti-Semitism Act (H.R. 221/S. 238) which would elevate and strengthen the role of the State Department’s Anti-Semitism Envoy;

6. Legislation to hold perpetrators of online hate accountable, along the lines of the Online Safety Modernization Act introduced in the 115th Congress;

7. Fully fund the non-profit security grants to protect at-risk institutions and meet the needs of all faith groups and their places of worship, schools, and community centers;

8. Fund federal programs that support hate crimes investigations and prosecutions by state, local and tribal law enforcement officials; and

9. Increased funding for inclusive school anti-bias education, civics education, and bullying prevention programs.

I hope all of the above come to fruition but particularly the last one. We’re never going to reduce discrimination if we don’t put the effort in the early years for kids. Time and time we keep seeing examples of young people posting racist or religious discriminatory posts and the response is always “oh they are young”. We are failing kids that these comments, tweets, memes, etc so easily roll off their tongue.

We get it. You’ll always pat us on the head and say “not your time.”

Meanwhile, we’ve been dealing with rising anti-Semitism for years and haven’t been included in the left’s approved minority groups for allyship.

Im sorry but i just don think that is true- there are a few antisemites on here that maybe are making you feel that way. I am Muslim and know that antisemitic beliefs are everywhere and teh appropriation of teh term semitic to refer to only one part of the semite family is risable even from me though i try my hardest to fight against bigotry and antisemitism. Jewish people are being targeted and there has always been an indifferent eto their suffering and that has to stop. Whatever outrage has been perpetrated against a minority group this week, we have to remain vigilant against teh smaller acts of ignorance and othering that occur around us all the time and speak up because not doing so perpetuates white supremacy and jewish people are white the way arabs are- its a conditional sort of whiteness that sometimes protects and sometimes doenst against discrimination and harrasment. There is a long history of indifferent eto jewish suffering plus ignorance. I personally dont really like inhan omar but i do admire that she wears a hijab, if only her personal conduct wa sin line with said hijab, her comments are born of ignorance and fostered by malice. Maybe the malice is not her own but these lies about jewish control of banks, media, space laser. . its all part and parcel and it is born of malice and it is antisemitic, pograms and death camps are the violent extreme, it is not the common disease. People point out that Black americans have ben here since before ether founding, Asians have been here since before the civil war, well jewish people have been living in europe since before the literal year 1! We should all feel outrage at all times that any minority group in America is literally just waiting for an atrocity to happen at anytime, that none of us are safe from hatred, from missed opportunities due to bias, from having slur thrown at us, from a physical attack on one of our own. The right is taking voting rights away in a way that will affect all marginalized people and communities and that includes orthodox and hasidic groups and asians. The way they are doing it effects us all and once you are disenfranchised, everything can be taken away. Religious minorities everywhere were furious at Hilary Clinton when she refused to recognize that a sanders presidency would be shattering a thicker glass ceiling than hers. We are well aware of antisemitism on the left side of politics and it is not swastika bearing like it s on the right. Its there on both side but one side is much more dangerous, and its not the woke police.

All minorities in America have lived lives whee they were very deprived and oppressed. It’s unbelievably racist here, and getting worse every day.

America is like one bike open air prison, when minorities suffer under constant oppression and can barely even survive, day to day.

Now that's a winning attitude!

Have you considered moving?

While all are good causes only one specifically addressed anti- semitism.

Anti-semitism is on the rise in the United States. Many of the very progressive people preaching for social justice are the worst antisemites. They are the ones saying, ÿou can hide that you are Jewish... That is a slap in the face. Why should anyone hide they are Jewish? This reaction, that someone can hide who they are, perpetuates antisemitism and doesn't address the problem. Jews should not have to hide that they are Jewish so that they are treated well. How can people even say this? It is infuriating.

I'm still not clear on what OP is looking for.

Are people who comit antisemitic crimes not being held accountable?

This thread is largely not antisemitic. In the aftermath of a horrific attack against Asians, it is not the time to discuss aggressions against Jews. The equivalent would have been for Asians to want to shift the National conversation towards anti-Asian racism abd problems being the model minority immediately after the Tree of Life massacre. When people are getting murdered because of their race, the decent human reaction is to show support — not ask, “what about me? There was graffiti at my synagogue a few months ago, why is nobody writing about that in the days after 8 Asian women are murdered? Don’t I matter?”

In short, if you want allies, try being an ally too.

When is the right time?

Last week?

Maybe in a month or so?

Do you really need this spelled out for you?

We’ve been fighting in lock step with BLM since 2015, consistent with our decades-long support for the civil rights movement. We’ve been fighting for undocumented immigrants for decades. We came out in strong support for fighting anti-Asian hate.

We’re simply asking that at some point, amid the years of rising anti-Semitism in this country, that folks show us a bit of allyship.

That’s all.

And again I ask BLM has given actionable steps, what are your actionable steps?

I believe both groups need to form closer alliances with the Nation of Islam and Louis Farrakhan.

The point is that people brush off antisemitism as not a big deal. It is minimized and very acceptable to a large population in our country. Even in this thread people are saying that Jews can hide their Jewishness and pass as whites. Disgusting minimization.

Public criticism of Israel is anti-semitic. So is public support.

Even those two statements next to each other is offensive.

Yeah. This makes no sense to me.

It’s not about that. Also not hard to understand: OP is presumably white (note - there are African Jews, though very few live in America).

OP seeks to be an ally. But she benefits from white privilege and affluence. So it’s difficult to truly accept her as a real ally; she has never experienced racial oppression like the POC/BIPOC.

Stop. There are Jews of Color in the US- estimated to be 12% of the Jewish population.
