Nope. Man, the lottery ran and some people still don't understand how it works.

My favorite part of his response (and I'm just guessing it is a man because who else would mansplain something so condescendingly and be so very wrong) is the use of the word "obviously".

This is for pk4. Currently at Breakthrough and leaning towards accepting LAMB although still on fence given how happy we’ve been at Breakthrough.

How is this possible...
We got #32 DC Bilingual and #25 LAMB Kingsbury. Also PK4. Those are the only two we did this round.

I assume we have a better lottery number than OP because of our DCB number, but them why worse for Kingsbury... I am confused. Can someone explain?

Maybe they have a preference at LAMB? Maybe they are listing the number they got after the lottery and you're listing after the WL moved or vice versa?

That is super weird. I am also confused by some of the numbers posted here. For example, a prior poster said her rising PK3 child was 23 on the WL for Haynes and 54 for LAMB, while we matched at Haynes and our number for LAMB is a few spots ahead of that poster. Seems odd!

OP here - sorry - was relying on my own faulty memory of numbers. My DCB spot is actually #22 (just knew it was high enough we wouldn’t get in) and LAMB Kingsbury is #16. My YY number was accurate. Sorry for the mistake!

So my niece is ranked 9th to get into Deal so fingers crossed

I’m sure your niece is great but Deal has kids sitting on the cafeteria floor during lunch because it’s so overcrowded. No more kids. School is bursting at the seams. What say you, fire marshal?

Not even close to going to happen. Sorry.

You may want to call DCB and see if they included slots for the additional preK4 class in the original lottery or not. If they didn't, you have a shot with 22.

Hello, below are our lottery results. We currently live in PG county but moving to DC in the next few weeks. My son currently goes to a daycare center in pg county, but not sure once we move if we should keep him there for prek 4, go with the matched school below, or attend the IB school which would be Burrville Elementary. HELP!!! (Does anyone have insight on Burrville or AppleTree Oklahoma?)

Also, what's the possibility he could get into Friendship or DC Prep based off his waitlist ranking. Figured the others he won't get into.

Thanks for your insight.

Does Burrville have space? You're not guaranteed a spot for PK. Based on your WL #s, there's a very good chance you get into Friendship PCS - Chamberlain. AT OK is fine, but is PK only, so you'd be left w/ the Burrville or lottery again option for K.

ok thanks! Haven't checked yet if they have space yet, will do! Right, AT OK being PK only is a bum to have to do this lottery again. We have to show proof of residency by 6/15 so I guess we have to enroll at AT and move to another school if they call us.

Apple Tree is fine if you don't land anywhere else, but I think you'll get offers from Bridges, DC Prep, and Friendship Chamberlain.

Hi Neighbor! Burrville is our in boundary school too and my kid went there for PK. It was actually a pretty good experience, but this was a few years ago. I personally liked the classroom set up and how the Early Childhood Department had it's own wing separate from the rest of the school. They have a montessori program also. Like another poster said, the challenge might be getting in but a lot of unsuspecting schools may have waitlists for PK4.

Hi! Burrville actually has a lot going for it. For example, it is 1 of 2 4-star dcps schools in ward 7 (other one is Kimball): https://www.myschooldc.org/schools/profile/16

DC Prep-Benning would also be a feasible option. I encourage you to check all those schools out. Your list is all over the place! For preK (at least), keep it simple. Welcome to Ward 7!

Thank you! Yes our list is all over the place. Found out I was pregnant about 2 weeks before the lottery ended. So last minute we thought, we need to move to dc..but what schools? So we asked around and got that list and just threw darts at a board literally. Definitely a learning experience cuz this was stressful!

Good to know Burville is a good school. We put an app info for the house in NE, so we shall see!! Trying to keep all options open. Thank you.
