cutoff scores for Fairfax County GT centers for this year?

Okay, now I'm nervous. I turned mine in on tuesday 2/16 b/c it was the first day back for the students. They gave me a receipt and checked my materials as though they accepted it.

Are you saying they might not b/c it was not turned in on 2/15???

I didn't see this email--how did you get it. This very unfair and I have not just seen this AFTER the school's office is closed. I am going to the school first thing tomorrrow morning--will post what they say.

I didn't mean to imply I got an email about the AAP deadline. I was referring to the email I got through the "keep in touch" system, saying that school was open for teachers and staff but not for students. Every time FCPS makes an emergency announcement, they post it on the website and also email it via "keep in touch," which everyone is supposed to be signed up for. I got several emails during the blizzard with updates on school closings.

I don't think it's unfair at all to enforce the deadline as of today, but I think schools may still accept submissions tomorrow.

Information about the schools' open/closed status has been on the FCPS website daily, and it has also been emailed regularly. (Not to mention that it's all over the news channels and message boards like this.) At some point, you become responsible for finding out when the materials are due. Presumably you knew about the Feb. 5th / Feb. 12th deadlines, so you should have taken steps to make sure you understood how the deadline was being extended. Sorry, but the deadline was extended until schools opened, and schools were open today for staff and teachers.

If this logic is used then the application would have been due even before February 15. I believe the schools were open for the staff the week prior.

You're application is fine. Some people on this board are just hoping to exclude as many apps as possible (for what reason, I don't understand). Good luck to your DC.

Thanks 17:36.
I also emailed Carol Horn and got this response to whether or not I was on time if I turned my application in on 2/16:

"We accepted applications on the first day that school was open for children
The teacher work day was unexpected and since many roads in neighborhoods were still not well plowed, we extended the deadline to the first day that children were in school so you are fine"

Take him with you to the GT center Open House so he can see all the new opportunities and new things he'll get to do in the fall. Be sure that he can still see his old friends, too. You want him to know that he'll be making new friends -- but that is not replacing old ones.

Congrats! We still haven't heard anything. Do you mind sharing your child's info. with us, like NNAT, CogAt Score, GBRS?

I don't know what GBSR is, but NNAT was 128 and COGat 130. We had WISC, which was 136.

Will there be chance for us to do the WISC and appeal after the results come in[if required]?

I understand that a lot of people call before they get the results and make an appointment for the WISC as early in May as possible. They cancel the appointment if their child is declared eligible.
