There was an article about it years ago where a government official acknowledged that they knew parents were paying traffickers to get the kids here with the understanding that they just needed to have the smugglers get the kid to the border to claim asylum and the government would deliver the kid to the parents. To continue separating families, immigration agents appear to be taking advantage of a loophole in the court decision. The injunction doesn’t apply when parents have criminal histories or communicable diseases, which might require them to be quarantined away from their children.
