That's on top of the fact that if you want to compare Harry and Eugenie's wedding, they know that every dime they put into Harry's wedding they've already gotten back in spades. Tourism revenue went through the roof, hotels, restaurants, public transportation, souvenir purchases - it all matters when you're throwing a splashy, multi-million dollar celebration in the royal family. She had a thousand or so spectators show up. Harry had over one hundred thousand.

Eugenia does charity work with the cuildren's hospital that did her scoliosis surgery. |

So what if Harry had more crowds, what does that have to do with anything?
She’s a blood princess of the realm. You can’t raise a person in a palace, surrounded by servants and people curtsying to her and calling her an HRH, and then expect her to be a regular middle class person. That’s just dumb. Either do away with the monarchy or don’t but these halfway measures (Harry gets a splashy wedding but his first cousin doesn’t) are contradictory and ridiculous. |
This actually happens? How silly. |
That doesn't happen as much as you would think which is why the Yorks are always in such a snit. Honestly, Andrew had a choice about the way he raised her. He could have followed the example of his elder sister Anne, the Princess Royal, who didn't give her children titles at birth or an HRH. They're now successful with families and businesses of their own. Unlike Bea and Eugenie. There are plenty of ways to do a royal wedding and the way Zara Tindall did hers (she would be the same rank of Eugenie had her mother chose to do so) was perfect for someone without the stature and fame of a senior Royal. |
There are a lot of halfway measures - it's a hierarchy based on your distance from the throne. Harry's other first cousins (Prince Edward's children) are not HRH and wouldn't get this splashy wedding either. Princess Anne's daughter Zara - also a granddaughter of the Queen and not HRH either - was married in a much more modest ceremony. Eugenie is not a working member of the royal family (like Harry is) and certainly didn't need this much fanfare made about her marriage to a commoner. She'll return to her job and so will he. |
My god, think of the rumors and horrible press that would create for Kate and Will. |
Anne and Edward’s children don’t have an HRH but only because their parents declined those titles at their birth. Otherwise they would. Anne raised her kids to know that they wouldn’t be representing the monarchy as adults (and therefore getting paid to do so). Sophie has also mentioned raising her kids with the intention of them being self supporting as adults. That wasn’t how the York girls were brought up until late teens/early twenties. A lot of damage had probably been done by then. |
Kind of cheesy |
| For all of Eugenie's privilege, why couldn't she have chosen a better dress? Her wedding dress looks very 80s and is sooo not stylish. I'm not usually one to comment on dresses but it's quite unflattering. |
Anne and Sophie are smart and planned well for their kids. Once Charles ascends to the throne everything will be focused on his heirs and the rest will just become extended family. |
I hope that means we won’t see Megan. There’s just something about her that makes me dislike her |
Too bad for you. Charles has already made clear that as King Charles III he will be leaning heavily on his two sons for public engagements and events. He'll need them as King and Head of the Commonwealth and they plus their wives are well aware of the necessity. |
That's all on her parents, though. She didn't have to get the title as other people have pointed out. Those empty fields with the expensive, tax-payer-paid coach going through it are embarrassing. |

She looked radient and lovely as a bride. Her DH has a full head of hair...so a win there.
I loved, loved, loved her tiara. Fabulous piece of jewellary. Sarah Ferguson could have looked better without her visigoth hat! |
