We have 2 children and have lived in 2 different affluent areas of the country. I have never heard of a “push present” and never heard of someone receiving one until DCUM. |
PP here. I did not have it evaluated. Maybe it’s fake and he’s planning to leave me. That would be quite the plot twist. ![]() |
That's great. But do you know what's even better? the fact that you proved my point thanks - And I work, too. So yes, I understand that "we've come a long way, baby." |
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-48746609 Harry and Meghan's home renovations cost £2.4m in taxpayer funds
|
Good for them. They've renovated units that were in poor condition to become units in good condition. |
Seriously A+ on getting it done under the budget too. |
so kind of them to save the taxpayers' money https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/a28169197/frogmore-cottage-renovation-cost-royal-family-sovereign-grant/
|
I know, seriously. |
You know what I like about them releases the annual expenses of the of the royal family? It shows that the tabloids are full of sh*t. ![]() |
Frogmore Cottage was due to be renovated even without the Sussexes living there, and was budgeted. The amount spent is lower than budgeted, which is great. It's also substantially less than what was spent for the Cambridges' homes - 4m pounds for KP and 10m for Anmer. |
Sorry 1.5m pounds for Anmer renovations. |
PP here. I aim to please, so I am thrilled to have helped you prove your point. Let me go enjoy my ring while you enjoy being right on the internet. ![]() |
And if you think accountants can't paint a rosy picture and move some pots of monies around, you've missed the whole point. Meghan cannot accept gifts. There is no way her Givenchy wardrobe cost only 89,000 pounds....so......? Clearly the numbers are pretty soft. |
You stupid twits. The Sovereign Grant is not funded by taxpayer dollars. It is a percentage of the profits generated by the 'crown properties'. This properties are not owned by the government or an individual monarch. They are owned by the monarchy - whoever is sitting on the throne. The Crown Properties funds may go through the British Treasury and then to the monarch via the Sovereign Grant but that doesn't make them taxpayer or government funds. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finances_of_the_British_royal_family https://www.royal.uk/royal-finances-0 |
Did you read the report? Do you know that this only relates to official expenses? The PoW pays for the Cambridges and Sussexes household expenses from the private Duchy of Cornwall proceeds. Plus, Meghan and Harry probably pay for a decent portion of their private wardrobe expenses from their own funds. Cambridges too, probably. I'm guessing but between Diana's estate, the Queen Mother's estate, and Meghan's own earned amounts, they probably have about $20-25 million, so spinning out $1M per year in income wouldn't be a shock. Since Harry's inheritance was only given over to him in full at 30, it had 15+ years to invest and grow. From 1997 to 2014, the amount probably almost doubled. |
