No, we don't and shouldn't. The idea of the lazy American is a myth people tell themselves to justify paying their nanny/housekeeper below living wages. The idea that America owes immigrants a better life is faulty. |
+1. Also, little girls with painted nails. Trashy. |
+100 (but I'm still reading...) |
I oppose people who think whatever others do, and whatever the reasons of others, must abide by the narrow-minded analysis of just a few.

You're assigning an ulterior motive to me that doesn't exist. Seriously. I'm just curious. If you must know, my first was formula-fed b/c she was adopted as an older infant. Is an adoption considered imminent peril? Also, my 2nd was unable to nurse so I exclusively pumped and busted my ass for a year to provide exclusive breastmilk. I believe in nursing, I just couldn't do it (or more accurately, my baby couldn't). I had a vaginal birth, so no c-section here, though I'm guilty as charged in regards to an epidural. There- does that help with my intent? |

Oh please. You benefit every day from illegal immigration. If not by directly employing immigrants, then by doing business with anyone anywhere that does (and therefore offers cheaper rates for their products and services).
You, madam, are a hypocrite. |
Why couldn't your second nurse? |
Some Muslim wear the hijab for strictly social reasons (ie, as a trend, like other trends their peers wear). Believe it or not, hijab is a choice for most Muslim women - especially in the US. And some Muslim women wear it out of strict laziness - putting effort into doing your hair every day is a pain in the ass. A college roommate of mine wore it for this reason, and this reason alone. |
Americans ARE lazy. I should know, I am American and my hometown is a sorry pile of crap, thanks to the lazy idiots who live there and don't want to work hard (most of the south is like this, btw). If you don't think America should welcome immigrants, please turn in your passport and head back to wherever your family came over from. |
| Having children with someone you're not married to |
I have a colleague who does this as well. |
This doesn't apply to me (and I don't have a problem with your viewpoint). Just wondering: does your opinion change if they are well off? |
| I'm opposed to people who say they live in DC because it's "urban" and "diverse" and they want their kids to grow up knowing how to be city kids... and then they send their children to Beauvoir or STA or NCS or any other very expensive and exclusive private school. Yes, please keep talking about how much you value diversity and that urban lifestyle! |
Most "red" states are, quite literally, in the red. That is, they generally get far more from the federal government, than they give (most "blue" states are the opposite - they give more, get less). Yet the South/red states constantly and consistently vote in favor of "less" government - and vote against their own interests. Cognitive dissonance in the South is mind boggling. |
We could be friends. |
