She runs through the house like an insane creature whenever she is out of her crate--She's out of her crate 6-8 hours a day. She gets an hour of flat out running and tussling with other dogs at the dog park every day. She never gives any warning that she needs to pee--she just pees. She is impossibly cute with a scruffy muzzle. I hate her but yeah, I am her slave.

This dog is too cute to hate. I don't care how annoying it is. It is just so freakin' cute!!

+100 one of the cutest dogs I've ever seen!

Barks in back yard constantly..she is almost 8 yrs old. Whines in her crate at night early morning hours never stops! They have 16 month old baby, and having another baby in 5 months..this dog is not good..

Gee, do you think it could be that this family doesn't have enough time for her and she doesn't get enough attention and exercise? I wonder.

+1 sad situation all around

Which was devastating as I had grown up watching Lassie on the tee-vee. It was my dad's dog. I took it personally that the dog never was warm to me and don't even remember noticing when it died sometime while I was away at college. Lassie indeed.

I have heard this about collies

We’ve had collies for years and have one now. The females tend to be more standoffish but all our males have been very affectionate and family-oriented, bonding with everyone in the family. We currently have a large male collie, 1 year old, one of the sweetest, fun and gently playful, trainable and responsive dogs i’ve had. When we’re in separate rooms, he’ll position himself in the middle of the hallway to be near all of us, until he can’t stand being away from us and will pick a person to be near.

English Bulldog for health/happiness reasons. They are bred to basically be miserable carrying out the activities of daily life for a dog.

Growing up, our neighbors down the street had a collie. That was the nicest most sociable dog in the neighborhood. Everybody loved him. I'll never own a Chesapeake Bay Retriever though. I've never met one that I liked.

I have a mix Australian Cattle Dog and I love him. He herds my kids when they get home and sleeps while they are away. He is awesome.

I have had ACD's all my life. LOVE the breed and wouldn't have anything else. Super smart, loyal and hardworking but definitely not for everyone.

+1 Our neighbors have an English bulldog. They paid $3K for her and she always looks so damn unhappy.

Anyone have a Maltese or Coton? How are they to care for? Good for families?

Wait? Your dog is created 16 to 18 hours a day ? AMD you wonder why it is hyper?

My friend has a Coton. They have an unbelievably high pitched bark--I swear it could shatter glass. But sweet dog, fluffly as a cloud. I don't personally care for small dogs in general, but other than being expensive there seems to be nothing against Cotons.

Interesting, I'd never glance twice at the dog. Just another Jack Russell, and I don't think they're particularly cute. They are crazed half the time, though.
