2035, 2034, 2033 Girls

HOCO was a B-team club up until a couple years ago. A-players needed to leave the program for that reason. Now they will have A-Teams at the 2031, 2032, 2033, 2034, 2035, & 2036 levels. And competitive A Teams at that. Older HOCO teams are committing to D1, D2, D3 schools. MnD likes to use that as their recruiting tool but players are getting recruited at all clubs these days.

MnD & Hero’s are clearly threatened by this and most likely posting in this thread. HOCO 2034 does not foul more than any other team. MDU East 34 has more yellow cards against them actually, coaches included.

They offer an environment that is fun but demands hard work and commitment. The girls are amazing on and off the field. Some of the sweetest 4th graders you will find. The NGLL director complimented the sideline during the 2034 Championship. Say what you will. This HOCO Club is a class act and has a bright future ahead.

Every club does 1-2 “different” tournaments every season so that they can face different competition. Love that everyone is interested in what HOCO is doing though. Must be doing something right. HOCO’s prospect days and Open Practices are proving the results of hard work and dedication by the club.

The NGLL director complimented the sideline during the 2034 Championship. Hmmmm…..

I know, it doesn’t fit the narrative does it.

You mean the game they shouldn't have been allowed to participate in because the league made them forfeit their previous game do to terrible behavior? HOCO 2034 1000000000% fouls more than any other club. And they are proud of it. Which is terrible.

It’s just not true. Call NGLL and ask and get the facts. It was never a HOCO forfeit. It was never about HOCO.
Also ask about fouls also.
Is HOCO 34 a dominate team? Yes. Does that sometimes mean physicality, yes. But all other teams foul.
No one with HOCO is “proud of fouling”. This seems like pure jealousy of quite a talented team.

It was a double forfeit in the semis. Then HOCO was allowed to play in the finals anyway.

Suspicious. Maybe the NGLL director was threatened or bought off. But something happened that was not above board.

False.

Yes, I've always wanted to live in Howard County.

No team my daughter played got nearly the amount of yellow cards as HOCO. I'm talking a delta of at least 12. And they're consistently talked to by the refs for out of control play. Don't need to call the NGLL I saw it and heard it myself.

We went to an open practice the other night. Coach Becky seems like the real deal. In my opinion, lacrosse is a contact sport. Much like all other contact sports like basketball soccer football, fouls happen in games. Why are we counting fouls? It seems to me that fouls are part of lacrosse.

Welcome to the chat, Hoco Director.
Glad you could join us.

You’ve got some misleading information in your post.

Every club does not do 1-2 “different” tournaments. What are you talking about? I too was surprised to see Hoco The Great 2034 playing Apex tournaments 2 of 4 of their tournaments. Does Hoco have an exclusive multi-year arrangement with Apex? There are 3 strong summer tournaments in the area for these ages and what I see is that everyone is doing all 3. The only examples I see of a team doing a “different” one is if they wanted to get a fourth in and then you’ve got to do a weaker one (eg, Hero’s).

Hoco’s college commitments may have a spattering of D1 and D2 and D3 schools in recent years but you can’t be suggesting the commitments are anywhere in the same universe as Hero’s, M&D, Capital Blue, MDU, and Coppermine. It’s not even close.

I do appreciate how Hoco has progressed from being a rec + club to having some A teams and some strong youth teams. The massive recent growth of girls lacrosse, particularly in hotbeds like Maryland and Howard County, means there is a need for places to go for so many young athletes. Girls club lacrosse has thankfully not followed travel soccer, where one club might have 5-7 different levels of girls teams, hoarding all the girls. Instead the top clubs have at most 2 teams. M&D only has one team for the first 3 age groups. This means there’s little room and other clubs can receive all the great newcomers. Other clubs are getting stronger too, like CC Lax and Integrity and Predators and Rebels. Ultimately though, the best of those girls will go to top clubs if they can. It’s a story as old as time. Don’t be the last one left to turn the lights out, as they say.

I don’t think Hero’s/M&D are threatened. They would happily take some of your girls sooner rather than later though!

MnD 2033 just won Lax Splash (Rec tournament) where as Apex Summer Launch had primarily A-Bracket teams in the 2033 age. Everyone knows that you don’t know who is signed up for what when you sign up for tournaments. HOCO has no interest in playing the same teams over and over. Apex is new to the tournament scene and we wanted to try them out. They’ve been wonderful to work with thus far. Like BCA being new to the scene and awesome to work with.
Also, not the Director but thank you for the compliment. She’s fabulous.
We are so excited to see so much growth in so many clubs!! Exciting time to be a young female lacrosse player in Maryland!!
