UMD treats IB as equivalent to AP. Sometimes harder to get credit though. |
Most other schools don't though |
I’m sorry PP. I would get in touch with someone at UMD and see what expectations are. Dual enrollment at MC May get you what you need. |
| Why are the slides still not up? |
This is PP. DS took Calc AB even though he was recommended for BC. My husband and I wanted him to have the building blocks in place to really deeply understand calc, especially since it was always really clear he was going to be an engineer. It’s not a race. |
IB is highly respected internationally and domestically. What schools don’t like it? Is the problem for Einstein kids who don’t want to do the whole IB program? If they just want one or two APs, they can’t? |
They can take AP and/or IB classes individually. It's never been an issue. --Parent of two Einstein kids |
Isn’t there some sort of rule that material for agenda items have to be distributed a few days in advance? |
Dual enrollment will not work due to transportation and online class times. Looked at it. Thanks for the suggestion. Just glad to hear your kid got in without heavy math or other things. |
BC really isn’t that much different t and mostly a repeat of ab with some extra chapters. Mine choose it, I did not care either way. Ideally they would have done both but they wanted Mv. |
You don’t have to take IB classes. You can just do regular or the ap they offer. |
The agenda has to be posted in advance, but the slides don't. |
|
I wish I had made a copy of the slides when I looked at them on Friday. I am glad I wrote down some of the info, but now I am curious what will change and am not confident I can 100% remember what was on them, especially for the slides where I did not take notes.
This really shows you how close they are holding this info. Their lack of communication with the public about this is purposeful. |
There's a public meeting tomorrow...why can't you all just wait until then instead of speculating endlessly about what they might say? |
It’s a Board meeting right? Most professional boards have rules about circulating materials ahead of time so the Board can read the materials and prepare thoughtful questions. Why can’t you support good governance rather than complaining about people who want to be prepared? |
