You can't have a war without the other side fighting back. It'll be a war when Iran retaliates. And I fully expect them to retaliate. Right now it's a bullying situation by the US.

Also, the US fully expects retaliation and is staging for such. I have 2 military relatives who have either been deployed (Army) or given deployment orders (Navy). In the case of the relative in the Army, their boots hit the ground of a US base of a country near Iran yesterday. Literally not even 24 hours from when the bombing orders were given.

It works. Nobody is going to help Iran, because nobody is under any illusions they can prevail against Israel or the U.S., separately or together. No ME country could care less if the Iranian regime collapses, China only wants continued access to oil and doesn't particularly care whose bank account benefits, and Russia can't defeat Ukraine let alone devote any resources to a different front. The Iranian proxy stooges have all been effectively neutered and will never regain any military capacity without Iranian support which has disappeared forever.

The landscape has changed, and for the better, even if the final outcome is yet to be known. Ideally it will be a secular new regime in Iran, something which would be welcomed by peace-seeking Arabs and Jews alike.

Meanwhile, Russia has already committed to helping Iran

So far it's just bluster, nothing substantive. Time will tell.

I agree except for the "then we go home" part. Our aircraft carrier groups will stay in the Gulf rather than protecting our interests in the South China Sea. Trump has quiet surrendered to China.

We do have more than one carrier group. The Navy has 11 active nuclear Nimitz and Ford-class carriers. They also have 71 submarines and an array of other warships. The South China Sea won't go untended.

Meanwhile most of the US population can't afford medical care.

But sure let's start another war.
