This is my first response in this thread. It's interesting how so many of you are upset that a Black man got away with murder, but never blinked an eye of all the Black men wrongly accused, wrongly convicted, and/or wrongly lynched and executed. Cry me a river.

One has nothing to do with another. We don't let others go free to rights the wrongs of past crimes.

If you don’t see how black people would believe Oj was railroaded by police , then things are really hopeless.

LAPD setting up a crime scene with “blood and DNA” is a common pastime and not just in LA. Often, black men when arrested are clueless and give up blood samples thinking they are helping to clear their name not realizing the cops are trying to set them up and set up a scene. I believe something similar may have happened to Scott Peterson who is white and who I also think is innocent. He just looked guilty because he was a ahole who cheated on his wife. Similarly, OJ was an ahole who abused Nicole .

Darling, there was a car chase!

If he were white, people would say he was mentally distressed or ill.

Maybe he was on the run because he was distraught and knew as a black man, the cops would be after him and maybe kill him. You won’t understand the panic behind running unless you’re black

BS. No one would have blamed mental illness in the 90s. You run like that, you look guilty as hell no matter what.

Innocent people run. Innocent people even confess to things they didn’t do.
Stress and panic and adrenaline take over.
The arbiter of guilt is the evidence, and the lead detective on this case was a racist who couldn’t say under testimony that he didn’t stage any evidence . The prosecution visibly grimaced when Furhman testified and Cochran and the crew celebrated that day. The states case was dead and gone that day . The problem was the media does what it always does and lied and falsely reported the cases progress and made the public seem like OJ was just days away from conviction. Something similar happened with the MJ case. The defense was just lucky and kept getting win after win but the media kept making it seem like they were losing

I just want to throw a word in for the sake of Barry Scheck - a lot of Americans only know him as part of the OJ dream team and thus don’t think highly of him - but his book Actually Innocence shows his deep commitment to the rule of law and the rights of individuals and his Innocence Project has freed close to 400 wrongfully convicted actually innocent people using DNA evidence on appeal. It was the model for many other such organizations which have also freed many more wrongly convicted actually innocent people nationwide.

The introduction of DNA evidence into criminal law has been a blessing - it has helped us catch some of the worst criminals, and also helped us see how broken the system has been and how many totally innocent people have been convicted over the years, often by coerced false confessions. We must accept that we have long and far too commonly railroaded innocent people into prison. Our system is flawed and we should be working on reforms far more quickly than we are.

It’s hard to explain this phenomenon and why OJ freaked out and ran and feared getting killed by cops unless you have generations of stories or experiences of things like this. Cops are just not seen as friends in the black community

Ummm you know that OJ infamously said he wasn’t black, he was OJ, and was chummy with the police before the murders, right? OJ absolutely was not in fear the police would kill him. FFS, they let him lead them on a never ending slow speed chase and return to his home unharmed. Whatever larger point you’re trying to make about the relationship between the Black community and the police really can’t be made with OJ as your example.

Who said I was not? I look around here in DCUM and I can't tell who is or who isn't.

I believe STRONGLY that he had CTE. I also believe he's a murderer, but how long are we going to condone football as a pastime when we know what it does to player's brains? It's unconscionable.

I meant to say, the car chase had him running from the SCENE OF THE CRIME. Literally.

OJ was on the cover of Jet Magazine with his first black wife and kids. That’s an all black publication and he did this at his peak. He also donated and was very philanthropic to black causes.

He was an athlete not a politician. What does his one dumb comment “I’m not black, I’m OJ”, which really means he wanted to be seen as a person not a color , and being chummy with police have to do with the fact that he probably was spooked and scared that day of the chase? The drive and the suicide note was one of someone who thought his life was over . Frantic behavior like this doesn’t mean he killed anybody . It could just mean he was terrified and knew he’d be a suspect

The only tell we have is the crime scene and the closest witnesses. We aren’t sure the crime scene wasn’t tampered with because the lead detective couldn’t confirm nor deny under oath, and the closest witnesses are his kids and weren’t asked to testify . They still are close to OJ which is strange .

They seem very protective of him and private which is not what you’d expect from two kids who lost their mother from a brutal homicide

You’re moving the goalposts. Sure we can agree OJ was freaked out, but it was not because he thought the police were going to kill him. He was freaked out because he killed 2 people and knew that his life as he knew it, beloved sports icon who had also transcended sports, was over.

It would have been "karma" if he had died right after the criminal trail, or if he had died a horrible and painful death. But the fact that after the trial, he lived for another 29 years, had pensions that reportedly paid him between 100k to 300k annually and lived to 76, means that after the trial (apart from the prison sentence) he lived a life better than many others.

He lived in infamy for those years. He liked being famous and beloved.

A majority of the time, people are abused and killed by people who know them. He was that person.

They had a classical batterer/victim relationship. He beat her many times. Most of this was not brought up at trial. In the OJ film, it said she had written about 60 beatings in her diary. She also broke up with him about a month before the murder. A breakup is the most dangerous time for the woman. This is when an abuser will kill the victim. He had the classic personality of an abuser too: charming, affable to outsiders. People associate that with his celebrity, but he would have probably been charming even if he had not been famous.

He got away with a ton. Even the way the police handled it at the beginning and how they handled her calls before the murder. He got special treatment.

I do see how the Black community supported him. The LAPD was racist, used battering rams to destroy houses during the war on drugs, and this happened soon after Rodney King and those police officers being cleared. Also, he had some brilliant and charismatic lawyers--namely, Johnny Cochran and Barry Scheck.

Nicole’s diaries are questionable . She was also encouraged by her divorce lawyers to exaggerate or falsify domestic abuse claims to get more spousal support from OJ. Kris Jenner tried but failed to do the same thing to Robert Kardashian , an attorney who knew better and left Kris Jenner practically penniless in the divorce so she had to marry Caitlyn

Okay? The police came out several times. An officer testified she came out in a bra and sweatpants, they arrested him, he pled no contest and did community service by hosting a golf tournament. She had photos of herself beaten up. I guess that meant she wasn't in danger?

This is speculation and can’t be used in a court of law however. The evidence is all that matters and the detective botched things. Ron’s defensive wounds imply he fought a very very strong fight with his attacker . No leather gloves would survive such a vicious defensive fight and stab attack. The scene leads me to believe multiple killers.

Arthritic OJ with bad hands and knees fighting off a martial artist in a death match wouldve led to a pool of his DNA on Ron.
Anonymous
OJ was still fit and strong at 46, plenty strong in a rageful state to blitz attack Ron Goldman and take him out, especially with a knife.

Do people forget OJ was seen stuffing a gym bag into the garbage at LAX? That he had cuts on his hands when he flew back from Chicago to be interviewed?

He did it.

But he convinced Nicole’s kids Sydney and Justin that he didn’t.

Only people who grew up in the orbit of a narcissistic parent will understand how that happened.

I’m sure she did take photos. She used to hit him and throw vases and say racial epithets as well. All that Coke rage. She needed evidence of mistreatment for more spousal support .

He was already dating a woman named Paula at the time of this murder . He didn’t care about her and Ron. She had slept with plenty people after OJ, why just take it out on Ron?

In fact, Nicole was the one wanting to get back together with him and angry at his girlfriends and confronting them. Nicole was also an anti Semite and berated a Jewish woman who was an assistant to OJ and made her cry. The more one reads on Nicole, the more your perspective on the situation will change. She maybe was bipolar or something .

She was a drug addict out of control and OJ was only concerned that his kids would be exposed to her reckless behavior
