Um no but digging up a two month old post to post that you’re paying out of state tuition on a school that is equivalent to VA tech, congrats!! |
DP but for the millionth time, you don’t know everyone’s circumstances. Kid could have gotten a big scholarship or have a GI Bill. Stop being a d$ck. |
Didn’t get into Tech. That happens. It’s gotten really hard for VA residents. Ironically, I know some doing the opposite. |
Seriously, you need to take a chill pill. I just said my kid is really enjoying UMD and the reason why. Sorry that upset you. |
+1 Exactly what I thought when I read that! Yeeesh. |
DP. You do realize this thread is ABOUT VA universities... right? So bizarre that you bumped an old thread for no apparent reason. |
Not this poster, but this isn’t the way I read the post. I got the feeling kid got into both and chose MD, but the poster can verify. |
DP. There is a poster here who (STILL) has the biggest chip on their shoulder because their kid didn't get into VT so went to MD instead. They post a lot in a sniffy way and the above PPP sounds just like them. Especially considering they bumped this old thread just to tell us all about it (again). |
Could be. All the Virginia kids I know IRL who went OOS to UMCP actually got into VT too, they just preferred the DMV to rural southwestern Virginia. |
Same who started this thread . Jeff even discussed her in one of his daily summaries. Clearly VA offers more for its residents than MD. And MD people feel that and take jealous swipes |
I have to laugh at the title/premise of this thread. What could possibly be LESS true? |
GMU is ranked higher tham JMU. So weird you would think it's the next best option. |
If your kid can't get into UVA, VT, or W&M, I'd be a crabby parent too. Is your kid a slacker? |
Reading that thread about how an FCPS kid with a 4.3/1500 has no chance at UVA, VT, or W&M, it really does not seem like Virginia kids have good options. Be a genius, go out of state, or go to Mason? Those are rough options for a hardworking smart kid looking for a traditional 4-year college experience. In most of the country, a 4.3/1500 kid can walk into their state flagship. |
But Blacksburg, VA - a shining star! |
