That verdict is $18.3 million in compensatory damages plus $65 million in punitive damages.

It's also on top of the $5 million awarded to Ms. Carroll earlier this year when the jury found in her favor, determining that Trump was liable for sexual abuse, battery, and defamation.

I don't know New York law, but presumably there are tools for executing on assets. He can appeal, of course, but that might not stay collection efforts while it's pending.

I don't know how you measure these things -- but the punitives at least are supposed to be in proportion to a defendant's net worth. The whole idea of punitive damages is for them to have a coercive influence against the defendant repeating the bad behavior. I don't know what Trump is actually worth, but the punitives are reasonable in light of what he says his net worth is.
