a new thread about Casey DeSantis's strange fashion choices

I said earlier in the thread that she looks First-Lady like, even though retro. Look at her through that lens and can’t you see it? Sometimes a person’s looks fit the “description” and if enough people see it that way, even subliminally, it will happen. Some might even see her as classy. There is an old saying in fl: she is a classy lasse from Tallahassee”.

No, I can't see it. I just see Theresa Giudice cosplaying KKKlasssy.

Basically saying she's coping other first ladies just doing it poorly. or, that's my takeaway

This is going to sound snobby (and in fact it is) but she and Ron strike me as basic, as the kids say. And there's nothing more basic than copying Jackie Kennedy and thinking you are putting your own twist on it, or cosplaying the end of The Little Mermaid for your wedding and thinking it's the height of elegance.

However, this will play well with the public at large, and especially MAGA, who place high value on womens' desirability to men.

The blue dress is so perfect for Disney bounding Cinderella (with a little black choker) that I have to think that's what it was bought for. I'm not a cinderella fan, but I almost want that dress for the disney-bounding! I always think the same thing when I see gold lame pants (C3PO bounding!).

The badgley mischka jacket is incredible -- of course it looks better on the model, but I think it looks pretty good on her too.

It's really the hair that pushes all these looks over the edge into camp cosplay -- they would be fun and retro if her hair and makeup looked more current.

She has been living in Tallahassee for many years. Are you always this literal?

If you put a long brunette wig on DeSantis, he'd arrest himself.

This made me laugh!

Me too. Well done!

And she looks pregnant in the blue dress photo that everyone is mocking, so, great work everyone living up to this board’s reputation as a gathering spot for heartless bullies.

“Republican strategist Ron Bonjean told The New York Times that Casey is playing “the image game” and she’s a master at it after starting her career as a TV news anchor. Her goal is to “maximize the levers of attention and the media” — and so far, it’s working. Kate Andersen Brower, author of First Women: The Grace and Power of America’s Modern First Ladies, explained that she’s a “student” of not only Melania, but also Jackie Kennedy and Kate Middleton. Tom Broecker, the costume designer for Saturday Night Live noted that “there’s so much intentionality and purpose behind everything” she wears these days.Look no further than her January inauguration outfit which immediately drew comparisons to Jackie and the Camelot era. The Alex Perry-designed dress had an elegant cape cascading down her body and featured the requisite white gloves that instantly made one think of the iconic former first lady. It also doesn’t hurt to have the John F. Kennedy generation comparisons given that Democratic contender President Joe Biden is 80 and Ron’s GOP opponent is 76. The DeSantis campaign wants to reflect “youth and generational change.”

She needs to study harder.

Google is your friend. Try connecting with them:
Disneybounding is a worldwide #DisneyStyle phenomenon that people use to dress up as beloved Disney characters… without wearing a costume. Through color blocking, accessories, and close attention to detail, fans wear a Disneybound to emulate a character with regular clothing.

Very Disney like. But, she is also very pretty and wholesome looking. In contrast, Melania's look? Holesome.

Do not like the politics of her husband, but he is not dumber than Trump.

Melanie is a terrible person who is part of a terrible family, but she has actual style - you have to give her that. Dime Store Evita looks like she buys her clothes at a costume shop.

ITA. Melania was in NYC long enough to clean up nice. This one is all Florida and Ohio.
