I’m not falling for any pro-GOP propaganda about Cheney. She does not deserve to be anything. She is doing this one thing correctly, end of list. I do not find her to be honorable in any other fashion. She’s still a Republican.

I disagree. I'm a centrist Democrat and I'm incredibly impressed with her and would vote for her, even though I thought her dad was the devil incarnate and I'm pretty sure there isn't much of anything I'd like in her platform. So tired of the endless succession of opportunistic, gutless, weather vanes that got us to this point.

I'm an at least lefty Democrat, and I would not be afraid for the country under her leadership. I wouldn't like it, but by goddamn it would be legal and just, and lead honorably.

No. We can agree to disagree but I believe that was the right call. The insurrectionists were handled very well by the Capitol Police and by MPD. The National Guard and other troops were not needed and should not have been called there.

The Marines station at the Marine Corps Barracks at 8th and I should have been called out and put under the Capitol police command. Flynn and his brother are with Trump and the GOP.

Absolutely not. MPD is experienced and good at crowd control - they should have been involved earlier and when they were finally called in, they did a great job.

Yes absolutely! It was an active attack on the Capitol(would say our Capitol but I do not consider you on the side of the US). They could have put a lot of those dogs down.

She agrees with the SCOTUS decision and that is terrifying.

The hearing's two hours sure went by quickly and IMO it got better at the end. No one here could explain why Hutchinson's statements would not be considered hearsay in a court room. This former Federal prosecutor explains in a great thread:

Yeah. This is thing people always forget about staffers. They are always there in the background taking notes, following up on taskers thrown out in meetings, finding people, passing messages. She was there. She was very clear about what she heard and saw directly, which was about 95% of her testimony today. She was devastating. Trump and the others knew the plan, knew it was illegal, knew that the Capitol was under attack and were not deterred.

And given the snippet about his meltdown in the beast when he couldn’t go himself to the Capitol, it would appear that he felt he could carry the day if only he could get there. So much for “we’ll, he didn’t really know what was going on”

PP here. I am very concerned about Roe, despite living in a state that codifies reproductive health rights. Believe me, I'm not taking that lightly.

But I wouldn't be worried that our country was being dismantled from within by literal juggernaut of dismemberment of the structure of it. I'd just think that the POTUS was flat out wrong about this one -- a big one, but not the same thing as setting the entire structure of our country on fire, with the help of Russia.

MPD wasn't "called in". They responded to all hamds on deck radio traffic. MPD is DC's local police force. They should not be the first responders to an attempted coup.

Marines weren't under Flynn2's command. DC National Guard also technically wasn't but practically were. The 3rd Infantry, Old Guard, is who should have defended America and the Constitution on that day. They were definitely under Flynn2's watch.

This is why they should have been call out of the barracks. Capitol police could have deputized them. They could have been there in 10 minutes.
