| What foods are you buying? I need to make a list of foods that won't require power. |
| Are you really not able to figure this out on your own?? |
| Canned beans. Canned tuna and salmon. |
|
Anything, really, as long as it's not in the cold or frozen section of the grocery store.
Also depends on whether you have a gas stove top or not. Try to remain calm. |
| Chocolate- of course. |
| Steak and ribs. Come on... Really? |
|
crackers, apples, bread, peanut butter, jelly, milk/juice boxes, small milk plastic bottles and freeze them now. Cereal, chocolate. Plastic utensils and plates. Individual puddings and jello.
Extra TP and batteries. Cases of bottled water and rubbing alcohol to wipe hands. After years of this BS I keep a tub full of water to dump/flush. |
| I like to have a coffee pot that can be used on the grill. You can get them in stores that sell camping equipment. Only during power outages do I use those awful creamers but I really need my coffee in the morning before leaving the house. |
& red wine |
You can also just boil water and use a French press coffee pot. |
|
I have a gas stove, and a large 7-day cooler.
So I just get (or make) a lot of ice. If it looks likely we will lose power for a while, I put my most important perishables in the 7 day cooler along with the ice. Stuff stays cold in there for, well, about a week. |
| Bourbon. It'll keep you warm and happy. |
| And the kids like it too! |
|
Bread, crackers, peanut butter, canned beans and rice meals, fruit, shelf-stable milk, snack bars. I'm going to bake some cookies ahead.
I forgot tuna and definitely need more chocolate and red wine. |
| I don't get the bottled water? Perhaps if you have a well. Otherwise, kinda unnecessesary no? |
