| She looks so young, I would have thought she was 16. |
| It doesn't help that she sings such juvenile songs. |
| Seriously?? I've never seen the singer (don't even know her name), but given the song, I would have guess 15 or 16, max. I had her mentally equated with that poor dork who got famous for "Friday". |
| I was surprised too. The song is fun and catchy, but is kind of childish for a 25 year old. She looks young too. |
|
It's because she dresses like a 16-year-old.

| I was so shocked to find out her age. I thought she was maybe 21 at the most. |

Is it a silly, childish song? Yup. Is it incredibly catchy? Yup. Is she now ridiculously rich because of it? Yup.
Don't hate just because she can pull off teenager in her mid-20s. I think she's adorable and I like her a lot more than the rest of the pop tarts out there. I think I also like that Carly Rae makes fun of herself - did you see the clip of her with Jimmy Fallon playing her song on kid's instruments with the Roots? I'll take her any day over Taylor Swift - something about TS just bugs the crap out of me. I get that she is squeaky clean and talented and a good role model, blah, blah, blah. She's just annoying. |
Taylor Swift writes her own songs, and plays guitar and piano. Not too shabby. |
But Taylor Swift writes lyrics such as, "We are never ever ever getting back together." #fail |
Agree--you may not like her songs, but she's clearly talented. And Jespen co-writes her songs too. Her interview with NPR was very endearing. She seemed truly grateful and humbled for her success and talked about writing the song when she didn't have a TV and spending her free time playing chess with her boyfriend. Pretty adorable. |
haha. I'm the original person who said I didn't like Taylor, and I stated in my original post (please see bolded) that I get all the good things about her - really, I do. She just gets on my nerves, plain and simple. She bugs the crap out of me and so does her music. My daughter likes her songs, and makes me sit through them when they are on the radio. Which is just painful and makes me wants to jab things into my ears. But because she seems like a good (albeit annoying) person, I would be OK if my daughter wanted to idolize her. |
I'd rather my daughter idolize someone like Liz Phair. |
Fair enough, but her music isn't all over the place right now. Taylor is in our faces constantly right now. We actually listen to a lot of 80s music - Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, etc. |
| I don't think you'd want your daughter listening to Phair song "HWC". Google it if you must. |
There was just an article in the Washington post about Taylor Swift and how her songs are totally immature and s he really needs to grow up. She is 22 and her songs make her sound like she is 15 or 16!! I also think it's so gross to be airing her dirty laundry in this way - it's so obvious all her songs are written about ex-boyfriends. And this new Kennedy obsession just makes her looks like she needs therapy. She's crazy. |
