I would never have guessed that the Call Me Maybe singer is 26

I'll take her any day over Taylor Swift - something about TS just bugs the crap out of me. I get that she is squeaky clean and talented and a good role model, blah, blah, blah. She's just annoying.

Taylor Swift writes her own songs, and plays guitar and piano. Not too shabby.

But Taylor Swift writes lyrics such as, "We are never ever ever getting back together."

#fail

haha. I'm the original person who said I didn't like Taylor, and I stated in my original post (please see bolded) that I get all the good things about her - really, I do. She just gets on my nerves, plain and simple. She bugs the crap out of me and so does her music. My daughter likes her songs, and makes me sit through them when they are on the radio. Which is just painful and makes me wants to jab things into my ears. But because she seems like a good (albeit annoying) person, I would be OK if my daughter wanted to idolize her.

I think Taylor's just playing into this whole "women are victims" mentality that seems to be all the rate lately (Twilight, 50 Shades of Gray, etc...). I would not want my daughter to think that it is okay.

all the rate = all the rage.

I guess I was only comparing her to Britney, Xtina, etc. I may think she's annoying, cray-cry obsessive and writes immature songs, but at least she's not a trampy little party girl. Another example - my kid likes Lady Gaga's music, but no way am I exposing my kid to Gaga's image. A lot of the little pop tartlets are not people I want my child to look up to because of who they are IRL. I have a hard enough time keeping her away from real-life Miley Cyrus after she watched the Disney manufactured version of her. I can't decide if I even want her to look up to Selena Gomez.

We all looked up to Madonna as kids - I'm sure our parents were disturbed by their kiddos singing "Like a Virgin" I was maybe 8? I didn't even know what that meant. I didn't understand ANY of the stuff about her image, what she stood for. She's generally considered a strong woman, but would you pick her over Taylor as a role model for your young child?
