DD was asked by a boy to kiss and marry him in KINDERGARTEN!!!!!

I know it can be taken by some as funny or cute...but I kind of freaked out...should I let the teacher know? I am not worried for her safety per se...but its so inappropriate...at the same time funny...and I dont want to put my daughter in a spot. If I let the teacher know and she speaks to DD about it, I dont want DD feeling like she should not be telling me this stuff anymore.
For now, I told DD to tell the boy that its not cool for 5 year olds., and that the boy will be in trouble with the teacher and principal if he asks again. I also told its germy and explained to her about spreading germs, so we only give high fives if we like someone at school. She likes this boy and he is her friend, so I also dont want to make it hard on her. So confused...

Mom, quit over reacting. This is perfectly normal behavior for this age. As long as it is just talk, there is no reason to freak out.

it's not inappropriate. it's common. there's really nothing unique or strange about this, and it's not worth fretting about, much less "letting the teacher know." You'll just embarrass yourself.

Deep breath. Totally normal and kind of adorable.

It would be one more thing to deal with on top of, GT, AP, IB, magnet schools, paying for college, etc... I am not saying that it's bad, it's just another curve ball that you would have to figure out.

Mine held his wedding on the playground at recess in first grade.

I bet the kid's mom has been playing Blow My Whistle for her kid. I would watch him....closely.

I haven't laughed so much in ages!

Seriously ... you told her the boy would get in trouble?! And she'll get germs.

Wow! Can't you just let kids be kids. They've got plenty of time to get hang ups when they're older.

Now I'm wondering what I should have told my kids when they said they wanted to marry me ... !!

I'm sorry ... I really can't get over this one. You seriously considered approaching the teacher about this! How I'd love to be a fly on the wall ...

Curious what school your child goes to because it could be my son. He has announced his intentions to marry several girls in his class already. In preschool 2 girls proposed to him.

My DD was engaged in Pre-K. Unfortunately they broke it off shortly thereafter. Too bad because they are both in college now and he's a great kid.

Please relax. You are taking this far, far too seriously.

I got engaged in kindergarten to the boy who taught me how to tie my shoes. Wish I had that plastic ring now -- it had a 3D image of the moon lander on it. Probably worth a fortune on "Antiques Roadshow."
