Hope she rots in hell

Thank GOD. It made me sick how she and her mother were saying she needed to be on probation so she could take care of her kids. Yes, her kids definitely need more "care" like that.

I can't read things like this. It just makes me sick to my stomache.

would you expect anything les form someone like this?

Seriously 5 kids at 23...WTF??? She needs to be sterilized.

What I am shocked about is that it didn't happen in Florida.

The article says: "A counselor, Melanie Davis, testified Wednesday that her sessions with Escalona indicated the young mother loved all five of her children and that she would benefit from more counseling."

Sure, I believe that she loves her children. I also believe that that has no bearing on the judgment or sentencing and that she is a horrible and unfit mother that should not be around her children for their safety. The two issues are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Love does not define how fit a person is to provide childcare or parenting. Personally I think that she needs to be kept away from children much like a sexual predator is.

Oh, come on. That seems excessive. But I guess there were so many counts of abuse it added up ala Sandusky.

I agree it seems excessive compared to what kind of sentences people get for much more horrific crimes i.e. rape, murder.

So now those kids get to live with the woman who raised their mother. Great. Lucky them.

The article I read about this said the prosecutor was seeking a sentence long enough that her kids would never have to worry about her walking back into their lives. With a sentence this long, she won't be eligible for parole until her children are all grown adults. That might be the logic. Of course, underprivileged women of color don't tend to do well in terms of prison sentencing, so that might also have a good deal to do with it.

if you read the article, you'll find she almost killed her daughter. There was a very violent attack that left her 2-year old daughter in a coma for several days. Gluing the little girl's hands to the wall was just part of the attack.

Someone who beats a 2-yo into a coma is just as bad as Sandusky. If someone did that to my child, it would take every moral fiber in my body not to kill them.
