My child is 2.5 years old, and so far I have been happy with the childcare center at my employer's cite. However, as he grows older, Ive noticed that the center is very much play based an drarely do I see them doing any project or reading a book with kids. What concerns me the most is that I have frequently seen the preschool teachers just sitting on a chair in boredom and children just do whatever they are pleased. For the price they charged, I thought at least in pre-school there are more organized activities which challenges kids. I am thinking about switching his school and was wondering if anyone knows of any good pre-school in the area! There are many names that come up in google search, but I need to hear from those who have kids in those schools.
Thank you |

try posting onthe pre-school forum as well. |
Rodef Shalom in Falls Church at the McLean/FC border. It has a good mix of people and a good mix of play / academics. The Montessori schools in McLean are also very good. |
Our son is at Northern Virginia Christian Children's Center and we love it. Full-day care, very small and warm and welcoming, which our son needs. Even when he was in the 2.5-year-old class, the teachers in the 4.5-year-old-class knew him, knew what he was like, etc. Great communications between school staff and parents. Really can't say enough good things about it. |
Check out Montessori Boyd school. Such a nice blend of socializing, work, practical life and independence. Very different from a daycare and teachers are all Montessori certified. Good luck. |
There is no Boyd School in McLean. |
NVCCC is terrible!
|
How so? |
disagree |
Tysons Corner Children's Center
(either location, but prefer the one on Westpark) |
NP here. Second the TCCC rec'n. We have been at both locations and would say both are excellent. |
+1 Tysons Corner Children's Center (both locations great) |
NVCCC...lets see......
1. kids wandering hallways unsupervised 2. 2 year olds being sent down the hall to the bathroom by themselves 3. door to facility often left unlocked 4. absolutely no structure in the afternoon and kids running around in a large room with absolutely no toys, books, games, etc to intereact with other than running and jumping off of a stage I can continue if needed...... |
