I've heard Country Day is not friendly toward working moms from several people. |

Why is this thread even here? Go to the Pre school Forum and look up each of the schools mentioned their. You'll find good and bad things about ALL of them. |
Hello,
My name is Gray and I can be reached anytime at gbmorgan@hotmail.com if you have questions about NVCCC. My daughter has been at NVCCC for over 2 years and through all 3 age levels. She is currently in the highest class, Koalas, and will be starting kindergarten this Fall. I cannot say enough good things about NVCC. There are lots of things to like about the facility such as the fact it’s in a quiet residential neighborhood and occupies the lower level of a large Methodist church on a lot that offers a grassy yard for games and sports, a tree lined and fenced in toddler lot, and a large tree lined blacktop area for the older kids to run around, ride tricycles, do sidewalk chalk, etc. The church provides HUGE amounts of space for the kids to play upstairs in an assembly hall during inclement weather and venues for the kids to show off their dance skills, routine potlucks, and other events throughout the year. If you are looking for a daycare/school with an institutional feel or the security system of a jail, this is NOT it. It’s a daycare staffed by ladies who really love the kids, just like the kind I grew up with back in Indiana. The name of NVCCC, Northern Virginia Christian Children's Center, is a bit of a misnomer as there is no religious aspect of the school other that it’s in a church. The staff here is exceptional with children and my daughter loves all of her teachers. While I am very happy with the care she has been given, the increased level of pre-k academic work she has received in each class level is outstanding. Younger than most in her class, my daughter started the year in Koalas at the midpoint with Ms. Caprice when an opening became available. Despite that, she has excelled and recently took the early placement exam for kindergarten for Maryland and scored 99.8, 99.8, and 98 on the three areas tested. While a bright little girl, I also give huge amounts of credit to NVCCC for providing both the place and instruction to help her achieve these scores. Although I was waitlisted on several well-known schools in the McLean/Tysons area, I would send my daughter to NVCCC without hesitation even if I could send her to any school in the area. :') |
Be careful labeling "Best" because EVERYONE has a different opinion, ha! In our experience the 'best' private school for our family was Green Hedges in Vienna, VA. http://www.greenhedges.org/ It starts at 3 years of age and continues through 8th grade, making the 'best' private school search so much easier. We toured multiple schools before finding what was best for us so knowing we were locked in for multiple years is nice. Best of luck to you in your search, be sure to compare curriculum & class size |
Walker Chapel (just inside Arlington) is a wonderful, sweet little place with veteran teachers. |
This thread is 3 years old. Why did you just bring it back up, PP's? |
And it belongs in the PRESCHOOL FORUM |
Was this just moved? It wasn't here earlier |
I'd run a search on this place. I think this is the place that lost a kid or two a few years ago. Something about a couple of kids being picked up by police in a neighbors yard. |

We have had children attending NVCCC for the past four years, and our experience has been extremely positive. The teachers are warm, nurturing, and totally dedicated to the children. Both of our kids have made lasting friendships, and have come home happy, confident, and proud of their accomplishments. The school strikes a nice balance between play time and "academics," and it offers optional extracurricular programs, including Spanish, science, and soccer, as well as holiday gatherings and performances. The previous post highlights an incident that was probably the worst moment in the school's history, but is not at all representative of the staff's attitude or the environment. The building is secure, teachers are attentive, and I have no concerns about my children's safety at NVCCC. |
THIS THREAD IS THREE YEARS OLD. OP'S KID IS PROBABLY IN KINDERGARDEN BY NOW. |
