Black Republicans

WMAL had an interesting conversation this morning about Stacey Dash who got killed on twitter for supporting Romney and I was wondering if any of you experience the same thing.

Im black and a dem but am not 100% all out liberal so some things I say tend to have people question me but nothing that gets me called a sell out or whatever.

Anyway, just wanted to get things going and hear your experience.

I frankly dont care if you are republican. Ill debate you kindly and reserve the "sell out" label depending where the conversation goes but my first thought isnt to think you sold out to the race if I encounter you. That would be pre judging you and I believe the dem handbook is against that so I try to live up to that mantra.

The only black Republicans I know are over 70.

I know a lot of more conservative black people, though, particularly if they are religious.

It's a shame, in general, that there is not more room in both parties for people who trend more toward center.

That's right. Blacks are a monolith and should ALL vote democrat. They are not allowed to have an independent opinion. How dare they vote republican.

Blacks aren't voting democrat. They are voting against Republicans. It's the GOPs problem. They can fix it any time they feel like it.

Why sholud voting against their own self-interests be limited to Tea Party wing nuts... Black are certainly entitled as are Log Cabin Republicans, to shoot themselves in the foot too.

Stacey Dash is my generations Dianne Carol... Confused!

Black Republicans are as confused as white rappers.

Of course not. Don't be obtuse. Of course I am making a generalization, but I am working from the data.

This is the breakdown of non-hispanic AA population by political ideology:
29% Conservative (!)
43% Moderate
24% Liberal

This is the breakdown of how they voted in 2004:
89% Democrat
11% Republican

So the party is only winning about 1 black voter for every 3 conservative blacks, and only one black voter for every 6 conservative/moderate blacks.

Clearly, a large number of Black voters are selecting the Democratic party despite their stated ideological differences. The only plausible reason for this is that they find the Republican party unacceptable. What's the alternative?

Who does the KKK vote for or any other racist group? I'm pretty sure they aren't voting for democrats.

Given the outstanding success the Republican's have enjoyed in their efforts to suppress the black vote the impact of the black voting block has been reduced. Add in the self hating uppity blacks who are too good to associate with or provide support their less fortunate brethren, (I made it out what's their problem) could be a good year for the GOP !

Black Republicans are as confused as white rappers.

what are white rappers confused about? Or is rap limited to black artists?

Does this also apply to other minorities and immigrants, ie, no minority or immigrant Republicans?

oh why limit it to the usual suspects.. Now appointed and inducted in the knight of day as a Col in the anti government Kentucky militia is Sen Rand Paul . A senator leading a group with the avowed goal to violently over through the Fed Gov. He make Aiken appear sane and the people ofKY the sane intellectual level as Aiken supporter
