Chambray/denim shirt and jeans?

Anonymous
Is it acceptable (from a style standpoint) to wear a denim or denim-looking chambray shirt with blue jeans? Or is that just like the dreaded denim tuxedo combo of jean jacket and jeans? I'm seeing a lot of denim shirts in catalogs this fall and wondering how to wear them.

I've seen them paired together, but I think I would look horrible in that combo so I don't wear it myself. I do have a chambray shirt that I love, which I usually end up wearing with black pants or skirt, or sometimes khaki.

Heck no!

A light blue chambray shirt looks great with super dark jeans.

Denim-on-denim is referred to in my household as 'the Guido Tuxedo'.

I agree with the PP. Light blue with dark jeans. I have a light blue shirt that I wear with black jeggings.

If the colors are substantially different. I won't even wear blue shirts with jeans unless the shade is really different!

Try wearing it with different colored jeans. During the late summer, I would wear mine with white jeans.

Ew, no. But I think denim shirts are super tacky and 1980s with anything.

People still own/buy/wear chambray shirts?

Well if it's good enough for Jay Leno . . .

holy crap, is chambray still a thing? That exists? Somewhere?

Why not throw a bolo tie on that and call it a day?

Banana Republic sold a line of chambray button down, roll-up sleeve shirts in several colors this past spring that I think are definitely very stylish. I wore a blue one this summer with dark navy short-shorts, and just wore it last week with my super-dark skinny jeans, purple suede wedges, and chunky jewlery. I think it looked pretty nice for a casual Friday!

Yes this trend is in... Lighter shirt and brighter colored jeans in blue.... Not just regular jeans.. That would be awful
