rain coat that you can wear to work and on weekends/with jeans, i.e. casual

Am looking to upgrade my rain gear but am hesitate to buy a trench (seems a little old/old fashioned for me) but i need something that goes well with work clothes. I know north face and patagonia have a few trench type jackets that are a little sportier but look good with dressier items for work. any other suggestions? thanks

What kind of work are you in? I couldn't get away with North Face or the like for work so I bought a nice trench a few years ago from Hugo Boss. I think it goes well with jeans on the weekend, but I have somewhat of a classic/preppy style. For instance, I can see myself with a cream colored sweater, dark skinny jeans, purple suede ballet flats and my trench.

I got a cute lightweight Calvin Klein black nylon raincoat at TJ Maxx recently. I'm not sure if it would still be there, but the price was right ($49).

I am a trench girl too. I can wear it with a nice dress, but it also looks good with jeans and a white top.

can you be more specific as to what trench you have

I have 2. One is a Burberry trench that is not so form fitting, so it is perfect for weekends with sweaters. My other one is from j crew and is more fitted and tailored. Perfect for work.

Yeah, I have a black DKNY trench that I bought 2 yrs ago and still looks great.

Check out Boden

Who is the Biden poster. I feel like on every fashion thread the same person recommends Boden. I guess that brand is fine for some bit it certainly isn't fashionable!

I wonder if I have the same one -- fingertip length with a nice fit -- I wear it a ton -- with skirts, jeans, leggings, etc. I get lots of compliments on it. I've also got a North Face shell that I throw on over a fleece for walking the dog in cool, rainy weather, but the trench is perfect for anything more formal than that!

I bought a trench from Land's End a few years back in a bright magenta color. I wear it constantly - to work, on weekends, almost anywhere - and I always get compliments on it. I think the fact that it's a color that pops has something to do with it. So that may be an option for you?

Different people recommend Boden. What do you wear Ms. Fashionable?

Love trenches. Calvin Klein, Burberry if you can swing it, Banana Republic and JCREW all have good ones. I have a black one, a tan one, an off white one and a new burgundy one (classic style collected over several years)

similar style. Trenches should hit at knew or above or they can look old fashioned. I like mine about 4 inches above knee for the most part.
