Apparently they are coming around based on the outrageous conditions of: *a year of phase in before firings occur based on the new evaluation process *some changes to the review categories *addition of an appeals process Not exactly the battle of tenure vs. performance that the posters on this site described. It sounds like pretty reasonable stuff. |
Fuck these fat lazy uneducated government workers. Sorry for the strong language but in this economy to be so clueless to strike when we have such high unemployment shows how clueless these government workers are. Fire all of them and see if they get a job in the private sector. |
wow. |
If we are hiring uneducated teachers, then there is no one to blame but ourselves. We are the employers and we set the pay scale. As for who is clueless, I don't see hordes of scab teachers looking to pick up these jobs, so it's hard to argue that they are clueless. |
Somewhere along the way a teacher failed you. Can we just fire that one? |
My thoughts exactly. |
The president of the Chicago teachers' union is an ivy league graduate with a background in STEM. Yes, she should take her lazy uneducated ivy degree and say frack you and your kids and go back into the private industry where she can make twice the money she makes as a teacher. People like you are clueless idiots. |
Have you ever taught a class of 40 kids? (Chicago has some of the biggest classes in the state.) It's the opposite of lazy. |
No. It doesn't matter how good the teacher is. A teacher can't fix lack of IQ points. A teacher can't fix deep personality and character flaws. |
You mean the one who bragged about her drug use at Dartmouth and make fun of Arne Duncan's lisp? Yes, she is a quality individual. Definite leadership qualities. ![]() |
Heresy! Michelle Rhee would have taped his mouth shut and solved all of those problems in a year. |
The lisp teasing was admittedly distasteful. The drug use, meh, no big deal. Many of the top leaders of our country have indulged in drug use during their college growing years. Some after they have graduated. |
That's why the government is so poorly run. |
I attended a lower middle class, almost ghetto school, and while we had teachers who were rood to students and treated us like dirt, I never actually came across a bad teacher.
Most teachers leave the profession, and there really are easier ways to earn a living. My guess is that the only result of the performance based pay, willl be pressure on schools to increase their drop-out rate. That is not really what the young people who are working and attending school need. As a society do we want to live with the consequences? |
The people who attended school with me didn't go into government work. The pay was too little for the hours. They went private or became entrepreneurs. |
