When to move baby into her own room

Anonymous
She is 3 months old and I am ready to have her in her own room, but nervous about SIDS. Any suggestions?

We moved DS at 6 weeks when he started STTN. Just make sure you use a sleep sack, no blankets/bumpers in the crib and you will be fine.

We waited the full 6 month recommendation. It gave me peace of mind which was something I was sorely lacking that whole first year!

I moved our baby when he turned seven months. Very smooth transition.

we moved both our kids at 6 weeks. IMO it helped them (and us) sleep better.

We moved our little one at 6 weeks and it went well. As above avoid anything in the crib - no bumpers, blankets, toys and consider a fan.

We moved both kids around 3 months, when they looked like they were getting too big for the bassinet. each time was a bit rough for a few weeks, but was shortly followed by sleeping through the night. I needed to have them in the bassinet for the first three months because I just couldn't deal with full wakeups at night because I was exhausted.

A year is recommended

My baby started sleeping in his own room at about 2 months. we started trying the crib for naps because he was growing out of the bassinet.

One night he just sleep through in his crib so that's what we did.

Our bedroom is close to his, so I had no worries about SIDS. We used a monitor at first and followed all of the guidelines.

To be honest, I don't know how the baby sleeping in your room is safer if you are following all of the guidelines in either room. If you are ready, try it out.

Never, ever heard a year. I moved DS at 9 weeks and it was no problem. And the transition came at the recommendation of a ped nurse in a very large practice.

My son slept in a crib in his own room from Day One. I've never heard of any recommendation otherwise.
