There are numerous threads solely discussing the AAP program and children's testing scores. It would be worthwhile to have a separate sub forum for AAP discussions and leave the broad and general school topics and questions in the basic VA schools area. It is becoming not worthwhile to even check the VA schools area due to the overwhelming majority of the threads based on AAP topics. And it just gets worse as testing season approaches.
Thank you. |
Honestly, that's kind of a silly idea. Think about how many sub-fora could possibly be established under DCUM. Not enough to have a Special Concerns Parenting Forum. need one each for gay families, step families, domestic adoption, cross-racial adoption, foreign adoption. TTC via IVF. TTC via donor egg or sperm. Birth control options and starting/stopping. Private schools in each jurisdiction. Single sex private schools. Religious private schools. Big 3 schools. All the other sub-par schools ( :wink![]() The VA schools forum isn't that super crazy busy as to really have trouble sorting through it every day or two. |
The current software doesn't allow the creation of subforums in the sense that I think you mean the term. The only option is for one more forum on the main list. AAP is too narrow of a topic to occupy that sort of position.

Hi Jeff,
Would you consider a topic on the main forum page about Gifted Children? Some folks noted that there is one for Special Needs, so the idea would be to create a similar space for those types of topics. Obviously all the FCPS AAP discussion would go there, but it could also be a chance for "cross-pollination" of ideas, with parents from different jurisdictions sharing information, not just FCPS. What do you think? |
Isn't that a bit like asking me to tape a sign to your back saying, "Kick Me"? I'm afraid that a significant number of our users would react to such a forum like sharks tasting blood. Ironically, the last time this idea was suggested, it was by a person who wasn't very sympathetic to gifted children: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/76827.page I've been getting a lot of requests for new forums, as well as entire additional websites for people in other areas. I'm going to have to put these requests on hold for a while until I can find a practical method of addressing them while keeping the website manageable. |
