+1. No one is longing to be married to Alec Baldwin. Even with all his money. And most of us are already skinny and reasonably well off. Maybe if we were yoga instructors earning mid five figures, then sure.

Ok, consider that her parents were a wealthy lawyer-doctor couple not unlike the people who post on this very forum.

To their horror, she goes to NYU and then somehow ends up as a struggling yoga instructor. It’s every DCUM parent’s worst nightmare.

Her choices to deal with this were:

A. Go to grad school like her parents were probably begging her to and marry a normal man

B. Pretend to be a Spaniard in order to bag Alec Baldwin

Not sure why she chose B. Pretty much everyone here would have chosen A. Anyone could have predicted this wasn’t going to end well.

DP. But the fact that she has things that can arguably make others jealous just makes adopting the whole fake persona more incomprehensible. Alec Baldwin strikes me as a scary rage monster but there are definitely some women somewhere who would like to be married to him. So why not live the happy housewife lifestyle without the fabricated Spanish background?

I am going with the theory that it started as a little white lie to make her seem more exotic to Alec, or perhaps remind him of Selma Hayek. With time, she had to repeatedly lie to keep the charade going in front of him. And then, stupidly, she took on this public persona where the lie took on a life of its own, including pretending to forget the word “cucumber” on National television. It was method acting and she just really got into it and since she is an extremely privileged person, it did not even occur to her that this is not quite a harmless way to present yourself to the world. Alec himself probably didn’t even care that much but she is so insecure, here we are. I wonder where the insecurity came from and if there’s a child rearing lesson to be had.

Outside of the handful of obsessive posters on this thread, no one cares. Not Alec, not anyone.

Refuses to admit her parents are just white expats who RETIRED to Spain 10 years ago. Refuses to detail when her doctor and lawyer parents left their careers to spend bulks of time in Spain (I’d guess it never happened outside of a few typical UMC family Euro vacations).

And she’s not as fluent as she claims. I read an article where even Spanish speakers said they noticed something about her. They said when she’d “speak Spanish” it was always in present tense and never in past or future tense. From a language standpoint, that’s a major red flag.
