NBC News incorrectly reported (as usual) that I was limiting the FBI investigation of Judge Kavanaugh, and witnesses, only to certain people. Actually, I want them to interview whoever they deem appropriate, at their discretion. Please correct your reporting!

7:49 PM - 29 Sep 2018

The Liar in Chief has spoken.

He’s probably restricted the “investigation” to Brettie’s Boy Scout leader, his Sunday School teacher and his priest.

Everything Trump says is a lie. I do not believe a word of it.

Such an interesting statement...especially when you are absolutely the same kind of person who hangs on his EVERY word when he says something incredulous that is jest or just complete blustering! "He literally SAID that he grabbed women by the pussy!!! So he must have done it! He's admitting to assault!!!" How can he be both a total liar AND be 100% believable??? Please explain...

It’s sad watching how GOPers will trade their rights and freedom - and ours - for some mythical pwn of someone.

So interesting... I thought "rights and freedom" included the right to due process. The presumption of innocence until proven guilty. But apparently, if you're a conservative, those rights go out the window. Democrats have made a mockery of this entire procedure. Own it.

Y’all didn’t want a due process!

Is the FBI investigation only looking at the sexual assault? If they find that BK perjured himself will they report on that as well?

The assault is terrible if it happened, but the lying would be significant and disqualifying on its own IMO.

The FBI will start with the allegations and follow the facts.

If, for example, Ford raises the definitions of Boofing and Devils Triangle, the FBI may ask his friends what those meant to them in the context of 1982-1983. The result could lead the FBI to determine there was lying.

Is that in the scope of their investigation? Or just the assault. Hope it’s broad enough to look into most of his statements, not just the assault.

Translation: Oh, please, please let them find SOMETHING because we know nothing will turn up about the allegations of sexual assault.

Now they're trying to nail him on the meaning of slang terms from his yearbook?? What is this, high school all over again? I grew up here during the same time as Kavanaugh and have never even heard of "boofing" or "Devil's Triangle." I can't even imagine the FBI would stoop so low as to investigate something so entirely frivolous.

The gathering at which Ford was attacked is ON HIS CALENDAR!

Oh shit!! Thanks for this breaking news. I had not yet heard this has been announced as a fact. Those FBI agents do not mess around.

He even listed the exact people Ford quoted in her testimony, in his calendar entry

She forget to mention Squi...

Sorry, there is no proof of perjury. You can speculate all you want, but do you really think if he were guilty he would have provided his journal?

Good god, shaking my head in disbelief.

He's doing everything he can to provide evidence (imagine that!) that proves he was not the person who assaulted Ford. I was floored when he brought out those calendars/journals. And it has already been established that he did *not* perjure himself.

So, so, so, so, so true. And I say that as someone who is pro-choice yet feels the way in Kavanaugh has been maligned is grotesque.

Never thought of it that way. You are so right.

Anonymous wrote:Yep. I saw this claim here too. This is one of the negative aspect of Twitter.
This is exactly why I am skeptical of so many of the claims out there.

Mainstream media reporters and commentators appeared to be much too zealous in spreading a false story on social media Friday that was very damaging to Brett Kavanaugh, the president’s nominee to the Supreme Court.

“I should not have RTed this.”

The story was contained in just one tweet, and it had no link, just a claim that the content came from the Wall Street Journal.

Despite the dubious sourcing, various reporters retweeted it over and over for hours, apparently in hope that the damaging story was true.

The tweet came from an account named “Alan Covington,” and it said that Republicans pulled a prosecutor who was questioning Brett Kavanaugh during his hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee because she had determined he had lied.

“Mitchell advised Republicans that to continue questioning Kavanaugh she was required by her oath in Arizona to inform Kavanaugh of his rights after he lied to her,” the tweet read.

“That WSJ story doesn’t appear to exist”

But the story was completely false, and they soon began to delete their tweets and undo their retweets.

https://www.theblaze.com/news/2018/09/28/journalists-made-a-damaging-kavanaugh-story-go-viral-but-it-was-too-good-to-be-true

And, the problem is these #FakeNews tweets get retweeted hundreds of thousands of times, but the corrections barely see the light of day. The damage is done. The negative stuff is out there and is believed by many, even if it is not true.

Sometimes I think Twitter was invented by an enemy country in order to bring our country down.

I agree - and would say the same about DCUM. Anonymous posters can put out any ugly rumor they please, and those who refuse to use their critical thinking skills take it as gospel. It's too bad Kavanaugh (and others) can't sue anonymous people for the libel they spew.

He may have actually deluded himself into thinking he didn’t do it (he’s deep in denial and might have been flat out drunk) so he went ahead and started waving his calendars around like an idiot. Bad move. Reminds me of The Wire where the defense attorney keeps yelling at his drug dealer clients to stop trying to talk their way out of crimes when they’re arrested. They think they’re smart but they’re just making it worse.

I really wish they would bring civics classes back. A person only has a right to due process when they are being denied a right to something, that is when the government is taking something from a person. Judge Kavanaugh does not have a right to be appointed to a life time position on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Just a Judge Garland did not have a right to have a vote on his nomination.

a sexual predator
a rapist
a liar
a cocaine user
unfit because he defended himself
an alcoholic
a wife beater
a terrible father for not dropping out of the nomination process

Did I miss something? Do we have them all covered here? Anyone have something to add?

And, then we have posters saying that his reputation has not been destroyed and he can go back to doing what he did before if he just drops out. Sure. Yet, we have opinion pieces being published for him to stay away from children. Sure. He can just drop out and go back and things will be just the same as they were before. Sure. Read the list above, folks.

Seems as if we are allowed to throw ANY accusation at Judge Kavanaugh. He is fair game. He is open to public scrutiny. He is allowed no privacy at all. But, God forbid you say ANYTHING about the accuser. Because, she is the “victim.” Nobody is allowed to look into her background because that would be victim shaming. No ma’am, we can’t go there.

I am so sick of the liberals here. I am so sick of gossip and the allegations and the accusations based on no evidence. I am sick of the Democrats on this committee, and the ones in Congress who “believe her” because THAT is what is politically correct to do. Forget there is no corroborating evidence. Forget that this man has had 6 background checks and has served 12 years on the 2nd highest court in the land and has been accused of NOTHING.

I don’t know Judge Kavanaugh. But, I know he is innocent of all of the allegations thrown at him. And, I feel deeply for his family and him because this hell he is in has been extended another couple weeks. I also know NOTHING will ever be the same for him. And, that saddens me deeply. And, contrary to what some of you keep repeating - HE did not ask for this. He was nominated. He accepted the nomination. I am sure, in retrospect if he knew and truly understood the tactics the liberals would take, he may not have accepted. But, here were are. And, there is no way in hell he will withdraw now because that would be surrendering and all of you accusations-pushers would dub him as guilty.

People keep saying things like... when the FBI proves (fill in the blank). It doesn’t work that way. You think the investigation is going to turn up “guilt” or “innocence.” It won’t. And, Kavanaugh knows that. He knows it is another week of hell for him because of sites like this and the media that will continue to slander him and print op-eds saying he shouldn’t be around children the longer this goes on. Those of you who think the FBI investigation is going to prove anything are ignorant and/or naive.

I have had one thing reinforced from this whole horrible ordeal. There are no depths to which the liberals won’t go. They do not care about the lives they destroy, because the ends justify the means. I am so glad that I am not one of you.

Agree 100%.

Agree 200%

Correction. We are PROUD we are not one of them.

Anybody who doubts that Kavanaugh was a hard-partying ‘frat bro’ did not go to an affluent school in the ‘80s. Believe the people who know that culture.

Sure, just as you believe all of the women (and men) who have come forward to vouch for his character, right? I mean, you *do* believe them too, correct??

Well, when you have one side calling you “evil” and stating that you will “destroy people,” it tends to have an effect on how you view them. He had every right to call out their games, their smears, their efforts to delay.

He was defending his reputation and his livelihood. I actually think he showed some restraint. I would have been a hell of a lot angrier had these false allegations been leveled at me.

Precisely. I saw controlled - and *justified*- anger. If my husband or son were accused of something that they flatly denied doing, I would fully understand their anger, frustration, and tears. Those PPs mocking Kavanaugh for becoming emotional obviously have no empathy whatsoever for someone trying to defend their honor while simultaneously being smeared in front of millions of people. Even if he is able to officially clear his name, his life will never be the same again. This is all that his kids will see on Google for the rest of their lives. Forget about all the great things he's done. He's being judged guilty in the court of public opinion. We might as well be back in Salem, 1692.

You know that thousands of people who worked similarly to Mr Kavanaugh and who had similar credentials were flat out rejected from Yale because they weren’t rich enough to contribute to the school, denying them the direct pipeline to top political jobs. With privilege comes responsibility (now, not in the 80’s and 90’s) and risk.

Your post has absolutely zero to do with anything, much less the post you're responding to.

For everyone who thinks K’s life is ruined, I remind you of the Duke Lacrosse case. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/03/duke-lacrosse-case-fantastic-lies-documentary

The moral of the story is that if you went to Landon and the person you abused was Black and poor, you can get a top lawyer, get away with it and be paid millions. If you were stupid enough to end up with a corpse in your hands, as in the UVA case, then you went to jail.

The Duke lacrosse players have fabulous careers, doting wives, etc. ten years on. Maybe they will be coaching basketball for their daughters someday in Chevy Chase, too.

Save your faux outrage. He acted like a huge baby as a strategy. But what works for our entertainer/celebrity/POTUS doesn't work for a federal judge. He is unfit.

You must be joking, but sadly I know you're not. He and his family have had the worst two weeks of their lives, and will probably be living in this hell for the rest of their years. He was defending himself against an onslaught of completely unsubstantiated accusations. He was exhausted and rightfully so, furious. I would have been surprised had he not broken down at all. I honestly don't know how he got through it, as I know if I had been falsely accused of something and was trying to stand up for myself, I would be an incoherent, blubbering mess. Forget being calm, cool, and collected (as he has been during all of his other hearings, btw).

Anyone who thinks someone defending themselves is "acting like a huge baby" - and doing so deliberately?? has more than a few screws loose. I'd really hate for you or any of your loved ones to be in a similar situation. You might actually find yourself - GASP! - breaking down into tears. And wouldn't that be awful to be told you're "acting like a huge baby as a strategy." Karma, indeed.

He won’t be ‘living in hell’ for the rest of his days. He lives in a decent community where people won’t act this way towards them, especially the kids. People saying they are harassing the family aren’t living there.

He could have bowed out of this process early on to save his family the strife that is these hearings, you know that, right? Or had enough self awareness to maybe just stay at the federal judge level of job?

Merrick Garland won’t be a Supreme Court Justice and his life is ok, right?

Wow... little introspection. People "won't act this way towards them, especially the kids"? Sure! Not to their faces. But you know they will ALL be talking about it behind their backs. The kids will only need to google their dad's name to find thousands of entries about these allegations, along with lies claiming far worse. These things will never go away.

As for bowing out of the process, if he's innocent - as he claims - why would he? Would you voluntarily leave your job if someone wrongfully accused you of assault? I would hope you'd stay and fight to clear your name.

And Merrick Garland - seriously?? That you can even compare his life to what Kavanaugh's is now is frighteningly obtuse.
