So if I have this straight:
The white woman is presumed to have malicious intent even if she did not do anything harmful, no one was hurt, and her behavior makes sense in context. The young black men are deemed to have no malicious intent even if we have video of them pushing, harassing, and jeering at the other party, and their own version of events confirms what the woman says happened. Right? Just checking. |
The man had docked the bike six minutes earlier. It is unlikely that he stood there right next to the bike with his hand on it for six minutes waiting. The most likely scenario is that he was not next to the bike and she thought it was free, even though in his head he was planning to get back on. It also doesn't make sense that he thought the bike was still rented on his account, as some people are saying online, because he purposely ended the previous session so as to reduce his charges. The man was acting entitled and believed he had claim to the bike simply because he was planning to use it. That's BS, I'm sorry. Then he thought he could gang up on the white woman and bully his way into taking the bike, and it didn't work, because she wouldn't get off. |
They wanted to steal the bike it's a commonly scam to swap bikes |
Yes, well said. |
THIS. The idea that the bike is “in your possession” (as the sister says in her Tik Tok) because previously rented it makes no sense. If I rent a hotel room for the night, check out in the morning, is that “my” room and can I camp outside it turning away anyone who tries to check into it? No. That room belongs to the hotel, it is only in my possession when I am paying for it. The bike was not in his possession when the PA got on it, the end. Everything else is NOISE to distract from the basic facts. |
I am getting so tired of the trope that white women are the "enemy" + "Karens". |
Who is the last e-bike reserved for? |
Well some people feel this way. That is why poc women publish articles like “ how white women’s tears oppress women of color” or “I refuse to listen to white women cry”. White women just accept it and are silent about it. You want to be a good ally and cannot speak out against it. If you do, then you are called racist or fragile. |
How do we know that they both don't have receipts at the same time? There could have been a computer glitch. In any case, there were several other bikes on the rack, so she technically could have just gotten a different bike, which she ended up doing anyway.
I still don't trust the receipts released from either party. Citibike should do the right thing here and release the damn receipt on their official Twitter or whatever. |
So well said! |
![]() There could have been a magic fairy that changed the text as well. Honestly. Don’t be ridiculous. |
Pretty much. |
Yes, one of the most pressing issues of the 21st century. |
Why shouldn't the men have just gotten a different bike? She was already sitting on that one. |
DP. Nobody said that; your dramatics just underscore your bitterness. This is, however, one issue that we need to deal with. |
