Same benefit FCV enjoys that is nationally average teams in the area to beat, but lack standing when facing teams from other parts of the country. Maybe next year.

I’d take this over FCV. Rather be on a mid tier ECNL team than a top GA team any day. Losing is part of the development process. Agreed. Also FCV has this weird obsession with Loudoun. On the top team girls side they do have better teams overall, yet they still need to bad mouth Loudoun. It’s like they know they are inferior in all other ways except the top girls soccer teams so when they do have an advantage they jump up and down and yell, “look at me, look at me!” Meanwhile, when it comes to club administration, club website, parent sideline behavior, rec soccer, non-elite girls soccer, and boys soccer they simply fall short. Oh, I will also give FCV the Facebook page edge. So there’s that at least.

FCV 05 didnt even advance against GA competition. Let’s talk about that

The elephant in the room is simply dilution. There are to many options for players to play in these leagues. All these teams are above average but none are truly exceptional when you get out of this area. It will take a few of these punches straight to the face on a true national level for this fact to sink in with parents on this board.

ON the plus side there are more kids getting opportunities to be showcased that would never have had the opportunity before but it also means that there will no longer be any super teams that come out of NOVA.

True. Richmond was in the Showcase and couldn't do anything even though they play local clubs close. Ultimately more kids playing is great and it'll never undergo contraction.

I don't know where you came from but you don't know much about the 2006 age group. GSA is #8 in the USA and Challenge is rated just behind Bethesda at #23. Sure, GSA put a hurting on us, they are a great team. We tied Challenge in a very competitive game as expected. We won over Portland 2-0 as expected.

The same can be said of Solar SC, Eclipse and MVLA. Those four clubs should be expected to make the final four every year with it's assets and outreach. NOBODY in DMV can compete with those machines.

In GA you have Tophat, Michigan Nationals, NEFC, CULM and IMG. Very similar situation with the exception of IMG who draws players in based on School Merit. Also very hard to compete with those size clubs.

The problem in our area will never go away. Ever. If a ECNL or GA team makes a final four, they are an outlier and should be considered an exceptional team. These girls in our area have the odds stacked against them.

Only one girls team from our entire area made a Final Four in ages U17 and under. That is the FCV 04s. And just to give you and idea of just how hard it would be for an ECNL team to do this, there is not one single GA team rated in the top 10 in the 2004 year.

Summary - tough year for both ECNL and GA teams in our area. A big congrats to the FCV 04s! Good luck to everyone on your newly rostered teams and lets hope for a better showing next year!!!

Name one super team that ever came out of NOVA..ever.

You guys are the only ones that suffer delusional thoughts. We have a lot of very talented girl players in NOVA. Even FCVs best ever team, with Freshman playing at Duke and UVA, didn’t win the national championship.

Just a month ago, some of you were bragging about how FCV 05 had all these kids called into the virtual camp. Well….how did they do is a weak GA playoff

America is bigger than Europe. It’s not easy winning a national championship. So sit down and let the kids compete.

So Solar doesn't have to compete with FC Dallas? or DKSC? Or Sting? Or Dallas Texans?
